23 January 2018 TPT........Two Pass Tuesday OK, all my shaves are 2 pass, minor touch-up. This morning's shave was an effortless delight. The Proraso never disappoints. Easy to whip up a slick, cushioned lather. The Fatip mows down whiskers with audible feedback. Finished off with a healthy splash of Pinaud SR. Smoothed, toned and ready to go! Soap: Proraso Red Brush: Omega 10086 boar Razor: Fatip Grande Blade: Personna Red (3) Aftershave: Pinaud Special Reserve
This is a two-fer. 1-22-18 I was searching for a puck of soap that I had picked up at Atlanta Barber Supply a few years ago.I did not find it.Instead I found a cheap shavette that I have not used in ages and a partial puck of Williams that had turned tan with age in a ramekin.HMMMMM. I filled the ramekin a third full of hot water and let it sit. While I removed a two use Good Sense blade from a Gillette razor. Broke it and placed it in the shavette.(I figured my out of practice hands did not need a fresh blade.).Drained the ramekin and whipped up a lather with a no-name china badger brush.I got a thin lather and kept at it for another minute -- medium thick stable lather.I did two passes wtg with stable non disappearing lather. The decision to use the used blade turned out to be the right thing as at one point I "felt" the blade "grab" as I tilted the shavette a little too far and stopped myself.I think A fresh blade would have left a mark.As it was it left an irritated line but no cut.Followed up with a cold water facecloth wash and an application of Adidas Ice Dive a/s with a slight sting at the irritated line where the blade had grabbed. so, No-name shavette w/2 use blade no-name china brush soaked in brass bowl of hot water old williams soaked in hot water 2 passes wtg sink of cool water Adidas Ice Dive a/s 1-23-18 Gillette twin ring w/fresh good sense blade Edge Renew shave cream warm face cloth wash sink of cool water 2 passes wtg and atg cold wash cloth follow up Lustray Blue Spice a/s with a few drops of glycerine added Observation--the shavette gave a smoother result on the broad planes of the cheeks and neck but around the edges of my beard not so smooth. The gillete gave a more even shave but not as close overall.I may have to play with the shavette more often.
Hi Jeff The short answer is no. But it doesn’t have the expected bay scent either. It has an artificial smell that isn’t as pleasing as B&M or Mikes.

No image today. Razor - Edwin Jagger "Kelvin" Blade - Astra Superior Platinum *9th shave Shave Brush - Scaramouche+Fandango 22mm "Ultra-Soft" Synthetic Shave soap - Pacific Shaving Co. Caffeinated Shaving Cream Aftershave balm - Pacific Shaving Co. Caffeinated Aftershave Balm Deodorant - Herban Cowboy "Unscented" Fragrance - Lalique Fleur Universelle 1900 The shave was decent today from a 9th shave blade and the new Pacific Shaving Co. suds and balm. The shave soap has a very light cooling sensation that is pleasant. These two products have a kind of minty scent to them. IMO, the lather slickness is moderate and residual slickness is not really there. Once the blade passes over an area, there isn't much residual protection for more strokes. So, the slickness is a '5' out of 10. The cushion of the lather is good and it has some decent lotion-like properties. The post-shave is a bit heavy on the oil and my face feels like I put Crisco Grease on it when I feel my hand over my skin to detect the smoothness hours later. I never cared for the lotion-like balms and typically use a special face serum that is watery and non-greasy which has special antioxidants and hyaluronic acid to promote moisture in the skin. I think the shave soap is solid but the balm is thick and greasy like so many other balms I've tested from corporate store products. I will use the shaving cream again at some point but will toss the balm in the waste basket. If you like the feel of commercial-balms then you will also like this balm. It's a matter of taste.
Tabac Tuesday! Razor - Red tip Blade - personna blue(1) Brush - omega 48 Soap - Tabac Post - medicated witch hazel A/s - vintage 4711 Shave was rough. My skin was very sore and sensitive from yesterday’s shave. I don’t know why as I didn’t have any issues yesterday. So I got weepers and nicks everywhere. Almost felt as my pores were swollen and I was catching skin with the hair. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wednesday morning: C. W. Beggs Facial Wash Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster Super Speed/Astra day 3 Rockwell Razors Barbershop SS Lubriderm Moisturizer Booster Polar Ice AS Splash Lagerfeld Classic EdT This soap was a gift from my father-in-law and I must say it's fantastic. Its scent is just the way I love it - very barbershoppy, traditional, and manly as well as so old-school. The lather is a pleasure to work up and it leaves a good post-shave feeling. Although menthol is listed as an ingredient in the Polar Ice aftershave I can't feel any trace of cooling but I can easily forgive that. I love that stuff so much!

Tuesday 23rd January Olive Oil Soap and RSC Facial Scrub Proraso Preshave Cream Arko Shave Stick Yaqi Barber Synthetic Brush Star 1912 with a shimmed GEM SS Blade Alum Block and Rinse Arko Sensitive ASB Brut Passion EDT A very early morning shave before a very challenging long day at work The Arko soap performed wonderfully...I only use it occasionally and then forget about it for months. Really I should use it more often. It has been on the shelf for so long that most of the strong smell has disappeared and it is now more pleasant to use! Three passes for a wonderful BBS shave
Dovo S/S Shavette & Dovo shavette blade #5 Zenith Best Badger GD Magnolia soap Humphreys Alcoholado Maravilla Nivea 2in1 lotion Stetson Cooling moisturizing A/S splash Dollar Tree Soup/Shave bowl It’s been a while since I’ve used the Shavette. An easy, 3 pass shave that was near BBS, minus the Adams Apple area. Always tough there. Nonetheless, with the GD Magnolia it was sweet success and post shave feel was as always, superb. Have a great evening and shaves Gents....
