Rockwell 6s Gillette P1 super speed 1949 tech FB Rockwell, shaverboy, and other sample blades a guy gave me Proraso green soap and Nivea creams
If they are of shaving age, can't keep em out. That would be sexist. Question for Neal @NCoxSTL - Has there ever been a female member of the 30 DC?
January 2018 Shavettes and Jeeves January! January 23 - Jeeves Samples Day 6 Razor - Delta Echoized New LC Blades - (1) Soap - Jeeves of Hudson Street Turkish Bath Brush - Stirling Pro Style Synthetic Post - Alum Next soap up is the Turkish Bath. This is nice barbershop scented soap that really packed a kick in that department. Lather was, of course, excellent and abundant with the big Stirling brush. Barbershops are a favorite scent for me and this one is definitely a very nice one. I would say that this ranks up with the Bay Rum in terms of how much I like it. The New LC did a great job with the Sharp Star, giving me a BBS in two passes and touch ups. I rinsed a bit light just to keep some of the soap scent around for a bit. Nice relaxing way to end the day.
My 9 yr old daughter whips up a darn good lather and lathers my head for me in exchange for her getting to lather her face and shave beside me with a plastic razor. I have no sons so I'll take what I can get. Lol
We have had a couple of females wander through that I can remember. Don't remember their names now as they didn't stay around long. But we'd certainly welcome any aboard!
That's the kind of memories you can buy for any kind of money. Good for both of you! Does she "shave" her legs?
No just her face, but she's asking me when she should start shaving them . Lol and she already knows what BBS means . I love the bonding time. Children grow up way too soon
@9nein9 I used C.O. Bigelow cream before I got a tub of Proraso Green soap. Both made by the same company - Proraso. It's good stuff. Once Neal catches up reading todays post he may have a comment, probably have an opinion about the blades you mentioned. Neal has shaved with more different blades than most people have ever heard of.
Feather H-Stainless ! The blade favored by Yakuza. Sharp, thought to be prone to nicks, but that's only in the hands and razors of careless shavers. I like em. Gillette Silver Blues, called GSB's are well thought of. Astras are good, too. Your buddy knows his stuff.
Those came from the guy who sold me the P1 super speed . Gave me an awesome deal on the razor . Real nice guy
Ahh, PI Super Speed - Black handle, silver flared Twist To Open (TTO) knob. Took me a moment to find it on the chart. I don't have one of them, but I assume it's a well made razor like most vintage Gillettes.
Same year I was born. Luck to find it when I did . Was just browsing razors to learn what was available and googled about the date codes . After that I had to buy it lol
Me....have opinions about blades? Why that's blasphemy! Ok, ok, I'll jump in since I was going to anyway. As far as blades for the new guys learning technique, here's my short list of the best. 1. Voskhod - smooth, sharp, pretty foolproof. 2. Rapira anything. Same smooth, sharp, pretty foolproof. 3. Gillette anything. The Gillette Stainless are particularly good, in my opinion, and the Silver Blue is exceptionally good. Rockwell and some of the others that get shipped with their specific razors aren't horrible, but I think they lack smoothness. Some would argue that, however. Derby is actually a decent blade to start with as well. It's smooth, if not terribly sharp. Some will think it's not a good blade as a starter because it doesn't shave as close in the beginning. Now, the short list to avoid as a newbie? 1. Merkur and most blades included with a starter razor that I haven't mentioned already as being ok. 2. Feather - these are super sharp and great blades - but until you have technique down I'd recommend leaving these to the side. There's plenty of time to spend with these blades when you know what you're doing. I'd say the same for Kai. Hope that helps. Quick Edit for being braindead. Astra Superior Platinum are excellent for starters. They're a blade you could shave your entire life with. Smooth, sharp enough to get an excellent shave.
