    Stirling Port-au-Prince SS
    CJB Pain Stick
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Fine Fresh Vetiver AS

Another one pass shave with the Pain Stick, this time for a CCS. My wife was up and about, so she stuck the dog in the bathroom, so I had a bit of an audience. It all made for a nice shave. I hope everyone is having a great day!
  3. Nice shot, Jim! Looks like the Fresh Vetiver is getting a good bit of use!

  4. Thank you Clint. I haven't yet achieved a Rule for a month. Even keeping a Focus is work for me. Falling to peer pressure, or at least being influenced by others wanders me off The Path. The scenery is nice out on the edges.

    Thanks Andrew!
I live in a small town in a quiet parish. Only 75K folks in the city, with the whole county (called a parish in Louisiana) just under 200K. This being the center of Big City life for sixty miles in any direction a couple local Ladies Beauty Supply shops all stock Pinaud products. Not much else in the "men's section" unless you'd like to try depilatory creams and powders.
got that going for me which is nice.jpg

  5. Pics of your WM? Thanks for the input. How is blade feel on the Wolfman? I'm hoping it has more exposure than the Timeless 95...akin to the Blackbird I just love. I don't have a NEW LC to compare to. I had Evatt on the phone a week or so ago and mentioned my appreciation of the BB's additional exposure. He said, "You need to get an Old Type". I don't really know what that means, haha.

All of my 3 piece razors are moderns or foreign made, I don't own a Gillette. I need suggestions on a 3-piece Gillette with the most exposure? I only want to have 2 or 3 at the most in my den.

  6. Thank you, Andrew. The Fresh Vetiver sees a bit more action than several of my other splashes.

Maybe @Boojum1 can comment relative to the BB since he has one. The blade feel of the 0.74mm is very similar to the Timeless OC 0.95mm. I have found it bites more than the Timeless due to the more narrow effective angle.
  12. I personally don't think that the Old Types have much blade exposure. I cant really think of a Gillette that has more exposure then any other.

  13. @Douglas Carey has the BlueBird, perhaps he will chirp in? <--- see what I did there?

That's some fine steel, Clint. I have the same Timeless OC. I'm hoping that I picked that same WRH3 handle. And, the Ti is interesting. I do like the idea of a heavy stainless handle (hempel) as apposed to a Ti one, you get a bunch of the weight back. I've avoided the Ti's because I like a heavy razor. Your picture just coaxed me out of that hole. Thanks. You now have me interested in custom handles too. Madness, I tell you.
  14. Thank you, Clint!
  15. I never plan on a one pass, it has just been working out. I am loading my brushes like the I owe the Cartel money, and the soap owes me and is two months late in payment. These past few shaves, I have rinsed a lot of lather down the drain. The last couple of weeks, though, I have had some of the best lathers of my wets shaving life. Slick, goofy and lots of it.

Sorry, no pic this morning. Weird shaving circumstances. Our neighbourhood lost power at 5am. Lit a couple of candles and then showered and shaved by candlelight earlier this morning. Put aside what I had pulled out, didn’t worry about focusses save for the GEM, and went with an easy peasy cream in the semi-dark. I hadn’t used the Palmolive in awhile, and was reminded again what a great performing product this is. Both the Menthol and Classic, in soap stick or cream form, are really top notch. I had a rich, slick lather that is better than many artisan products, with an excellent menthol’y’ scent and great post shave properties. 3 passes later I was completely smooth and refreshed. Finished with the excellent CL A/S. All things considered, a fine start to the day. The power came on in our part of town about 3 hours later.
    Have a great day all!

  17. FWIW, I have two Old Types that look quite similar, but do shave differently. I have a Canadian thin cap that I find is a more aggressive shaver than a later modelled US thicker cap OT. Both are ball-end handled.
  18. Says the man with a relevant CT.....

    ;)
  19. Nice write up, John. I also pair the Key Lime with the excellent Florida Water. Good combo.
Enjoy the field trip, Perry! Great shave to start the day.
Hope you don’t have any bad ‘suprises’ at work today, Clint. Great gear to start the day, at least.
    Great matching gear, Dalton.
Cool background matching the bowl and handle, Mark.
