GEM question .....
I have aquired a 1912 Junior, Clog Pruf, Push button, and Bullet Tip all are the brass color ... i have yet to aquire a Heavy Flat Top (G-Bar) but have looked at quite a few online and wondered, did they only come in the silver color (nickel plating or whatever it is) ? as pictured below

 

I'm pretty sure they only came chrome plated.

 

I figured so seeing that's all i've seen

I've been using my G-Bar off and on all month. It's a terrific razor!

 

I will have to get me one, i've been enjoying all my other 5 GEM razors - 1912 junior, Clog Pruf, MMOC, Push Button and Bullet Tip/Flying Wing they all give me great shaves

 

I have a 1912 and a Pushbutton. I had a MMOC but sold it because it was a beast. Couldn't tame it. The G-Bar far outperforms the Pushbutton and 1912, at least for me.

 

Went to Walmart and picked up my two 10 packs of Gem Blue Stars, and a 7 ounce bottle of Skinbracer. While on the shaving aisle I noticed they had bourbon scented Cremo on the shelf, it smells like butter toffee to me. I didn't buy any because I already have the Cooling, and Sandalwood versions.

Are the VB1 models hard to find?

I noted elsewhere the 24 is not the best for you. Have you tried a 1914?

 

Yup the HFT is worth the hunt. Bery much like a push button shave for me. I do not shave with the newer stuff much though......

 

No not really. You only need to look at the cap. It will not say Valet. Only Auto strop for the B1 and Auto Strop Razor for the B2. I found after only one shave. The B is the same as the VC &VB.

Thanks Tom. After I recover from buying the old pathfinder and getting the ranger running I might hunt one up.

 

I have not tried a 1914, but I love the 1912

 

The 24 is not so much for me...the 14 is awesome. Want to try one? Fire me off an addy. It will be tuesday before I can get it out probably. How about a lather catcher...tried that yet?

Tonights shave was brought to you by 3 great men. Thanks to all of you. I am truly blessed to have friends like everybody on the forum.

On to the shave. This was actually my first ever shave with s Gem jr. I found it to be the superb shave one would expect from a 1912. Not sure if was my imagination, but I thought is was a touch milder than a standard Gem.

I finished off with a DFS and I am smelling fine. If I do say so myself.
