I got fishin' on my mind. C'mon Spring!

A very easy DFS+ shave this morning. The Personna blade felt just as sharp and smooth as it did last Sunday. Like all the "flavors" of HBG aftershaves, this one has a great post shave feel. Tightens, soothes & tones.

    Cream: Derby Lavender
    Brush: Omega S10065 synthetic
    Bowl: Dollar Tree salsa
    Razor: Fatip Grande
    Blade: Personna Red (7)
    Aftershave: HBG "Vermont"

A no fuss cracking shave from the Pal. If you're in a hurry is there anything better than an Injecto-matic?
    Have a great weekend everyone

    Superb Sam
I love this scent! Such a classy combination of ginger lime and tobacco! The lather was tops and the blade smooth. My face feels great and I think I have the hang of the Vision.

  13. Creed Bois du Portugal is easily one of the best fragrances in my collection. I rank it 3rd out of my collection. I highly recommend people who like classic barbershop type scents try to buy a more affordable decant of this. The opening in a dirty/sharp lavender, and that opening while, 'okay' doesn't seem impressive.......until about a few hours later when the powdery sandalwood mixed with the signature ambergris takes over for, IMO, the best classic scent I've smelled. It doesn't take much of this stuff to get a good scent. 1-2 sprays in the summer and 'maybe' a 3rd in the winter on very, very cold days. So, because this is so strong and gets plenty of mileage, a small 1-ounce decant will last a very long time.

Fragrance - Creed Royal Mayfair (bottle signed by Erwin Creed)
Aftershave - Catie's Bubbles "Royal Garden" Tonic
Shave Soap - Catie's Bubbles "Royal Garden" Luxury Shave Soap Formula
    Deodorant - Punkee Herbals "Rose"
    Pre-Shave Oil - Lather & Wood "Unscented"
Post-Shave Balm - Nicci Marie Hyaluronic Acid Anti-Aging Serum
Razor - Antique Gillette ABC "Empire" Razor circa 1908-1912 (fully restored/re-plated in rhodium by Razor Emporium)
    Blade - BiC Chrome-Platnium *5th Shave
Razor Stand - ThinkGeek Executive Knight Pen Holder
Brush - London Cutlers Modified/Restored Antique Silver Synthetic-Boar Shave Brush circa 1890
Brush Stand - Jac Zagoory's Butterfly Pen Stand
Soap Mug - Antique Northwood Dandelion Amethyst Carnival Glass Mug circa 1912

Got a BBS shave with a few weepers. This razor goes through blades quickly it seems. It's got a super aggressive angle and the BiC Chrome-Platinum & Wilkinson Sword blades are the ONLY ones that work well in this razor for my skin. I just had the 5th shave with the BiC blade and already it seems to be 'done'. I think the likely reason it's so quickly finished is because after every use of this antique razor, I loosen the cap to dry the blade then later in the day remove the blade and clean the razor up thoroughly. I intend to have this razor last a very long time with super anal maintenance. In removing the blade there is a risk of the edge getting dinged without realizing it. I think that's what happened because I got a few weepers and the blade was very easy to feel on my skin while shaving.

The rhodium plating is holding up better than any other plating so far. I'm glad I had rhodium used for this special razor. It's very resistant to micro-scratches from shaving. I don't use this razor very much, but it seems like if I did, it would still take the abuse as the most used razor.

I just cleaned it and it's drying, and I will put a fresh Wilkinson Sword blade in it for the next time.
  15. I have eight Horsehair brushes, 6 of them Vie-long going on five years now and zero issues with my Vie-Long Horsehair. I like them, nice backbone, tips between a boar and silvertip except for the Turkish Horsehair. Zenith makes a nice horsehair brush that I picked up last year.

  16. A quickie but still a goodie with the Gillette Menthol cream. It's a decent, honest performer with good lather and enough menthol, although it's less cooling than the Palmolive Menthol cream and not quite as skin-friendly. The Lucky Tiger felt wonderful as always, and the Skin Bracer felt really chilly. All in all a damned good shave!

    Enjoy your day!
