Same animal for tomorrow as today, as I go for 4 straight days with the same soap. Different brush, though: Brush-Stirling Synthetic "li'l brudder".
Today's shave was with a Japanese Razor. It was "one of the first" ones I acquired, and it had a lot of issues. It took a while to figure this one out, on the hones, but when I did, it has been one of my top shaving razors. I always enjoy when this one makes its way around, in rotation. 2 passes that were super smooth, that left me with a near BBS shave. I will say, the Japanese have used some of the finest steels, in their straight razors. It might not be pretty, and shiny, but it is one I would have a very hard time parting with. Razor- Japanese "Cherry 92". Best Steel. Brush- Omega Boar Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy Scented. Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy

Thursday's Shave Proraso Pre Shave Ingram JR #257 Synthetic Micromatic OC Personna Gem CS Personna Pal CS CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Florida Water I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Ingram Shaving Cream face-lathered well with the JR #257 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Micromatic OC Razor using a Personna Gem and Pal CS SE blades and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Florida Water AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

SOTD 1/31/2018 - WILLIAMS WEDNESDAY RAZOR: Dorco Pace SD507 Long Handle Single Blade - COST $.99/12 (8.25 cents per razor) BLADE: Single Edge Disposable PREP: hot water face wash with Ivory soap followed by Bloom water from Shave soap PRE SHAVE: - none BRUSH: VDH Boar - from the Van Der Hagen Premium Shave Set SOAP: Williams Mug Shave Soap- face lather MUG: IKEA Clear Glass Coffee/Soup Mug POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse - Clubman JUMBO Styptic stick was NOT needed AFTER SHAVE: Aqua Velva Ice Blue BALM: Nope Got a nice 3+ pass BBS shave. Williams Mug Soap is a staple in my den, yet I see that I have not used it "straight" (unadulterated) SINCE October 2017. This DORCO Single Edge is very mild in terms of blade exposure. That makes it very hard to feel when the blade is cutting at the right angle for me. It requires me have to work hard to get a close BBS shave. With regular use, I could get the "feel" for this razor. I will likely not use it enough for that. Williams never gives me a problem. I like to bloom the soap with hot tap water. The VDH Boar brush goes in there as well to soak up water. I mostly face lather- including the Williams. It always produces a great slick lather for the shave. Here is a picture of the brush load (about 5 seconds). Hope all your days are fair and your shaves are excellent!
