Hi friends, This is the place to share all of your new and old shaving goodies that you've acquired in February. K
Got a few things in the mail today. Great way to kick off a new month! First is a 1960 FatBoy revamped in nickel. Completely flawless, not a single mark on it. Along with the FatBoy I also got a 20 Gillette Blue Blades dispenser with what appears to be 2 used blades and 18 unused blades in good condition. Next is a 1969 Gillette Super-84 Adjustable in pretty good condition. And the last item was actually gifted to me, a 1955 Gillette red tip Super Speed. Missing the end caps and has a little plating loss but the blade gap is even all around and is capable of delivering excellent shaves. A bunch of nice additions to my collection!
Got my Yaqi razor head today and it seems really nice. It’s not like the DOC from PAA. The teeth on top cap and bottom cap are different on not heads. Yaqi is short teeth while the doc is longer The posts are different Yaqi on left and doc right The teeth are stubby
Mine came yesterday, as well. Looking at the two together, the Phoenix DOC seems to be a much closer clone to the original GSK, while the Yaqi is more of an OT with combed head. It should be interesting to try, though...
Picked up a Damaskeene from @Obie over at TSN, a late '40's Super Speed off eBay and my first Williams soap. Herm
Now I have all three scents of OS SC. I am going to be using the Musk starting Sunday. Picked up another faux horse, too. It is a very nice knot.
I did receive my "GEM razor in box" with Wen blades. I ma PIF out some of the WEN boxes to other folks. I doubt I'll try more than one, and I'm not THAT into being a collector of razor blades. The Gillette Gem is a 40's Superspeed with a loose TTO knob. Once I have it all cleaned up, I'll re-crimp and PIF it. Anyone have an idea which GEM I should put inside the box? It has no logo, just GEM razor company.
Just picked this up from Big Lots for $3 plus tax. (not my picture) Edit - Oh yes. It says on the bottom "Do not eat." I'm guessing they think the average user will mistake it for mayonnaise, or maybe hair dressing.
Beautiful pile of Vintage! Those ceramic OS mugs are few and hard to find. Date info might be found HERE. The Gillettes look to be in very good condition, too.
