1. Maybe a George Butler razor that has lost the tang stamp. “KEEN” seems to be a brand of his.

  2. Interesting. When you say lost the tang stamp do you mean it was worn off or that it accidentally was produced without it?

  3. I was thinking sanded off, but need to look at some Google pics and see how deep those tang stamps were initially.
Either way, I bet you have a good shaver and those scales do look nice.

  4. Gotcha. Forgot for a minute I have a Butler. Seems pretty similar. [IMG]

  5. I think I saw some Pakistani razors, just like that(Shakespeare Razor), and similar pins. I hope I'm wrong. If you can get a good edge on it, then I will be wrong.

  6. That would honestly not surprise me. That could explain why it wouldn’t be stamped with a country of origin.

  7. I just got this Henckels Friday. Yesterday, after stropping it, I did one cheek with it. It is sharp, but I want to send it out for the honemeister service. I am so glad to welcome it into my collection.

  8. The George Butler one looks real promising.

  9. Looking at the Pakistani razors on eBay and I think you are absolutely right. Most have etches with no labels on tang with the same gold pins. Shrug, at least I know now haha. Didn’t pay for it so no harm done.

  11. In the 80's, there were a number of pocket knives made in Pakistan. Horrible metal, but once you got an edge on them, they worked really well for abusive tasks. I have several, and I like them. My day to day carry is still a Victorinox.

  12. I have 1 or 2 Pakistani Razors, and the steel is horrible. it goes dull before the first pass is done. I've owned several Pakistani made knives, from the 80's and 90's. They are tackle box knives, $2-$5 each, and if they end up in the lake, well, no big deal.

  13. Question - are those Pakistani razors carbon steel or stainless? My knives appear to be carbon steel (they'll rust).
  14. I don't recall about both, but one is carbon, and it's junk.

  15. Got a hold of this Colonial Razor Warranted Registered Germany. The blade had a thick black soot or something caked on the edge near the top but I was surprised it scraped straight off clean with some MAAS. The scales are a mess inside through. Might be a good candidate for a rescale with something interesting but I’ve never done that before or considered it. [IMG][IMG]

  16. Take a fine fingernail sander thingy like women use, and see if that cleans them up inside. The scales actually look pretty nice.

  17. I reduced some spending on my other hobbies (wine, women and song) and was looking for a razor with a big smile. My original target was a Saito SK3. After much patience I could not find a NOS Saito SK3 for under $500, This brand new Herr Razors smiling blade was less so I went for it, it arrived yesterday.

  18. There was a Period in the UK that was Seriously Anti German Between & During the War Years..This Advertisement Reflects this..Not Ground in Germany Etc...A Lot of Sheffield Blades were through the Years..Moreover..They are Also Making it Clear that the Term KEEN is Not Any Reference to Solingen Made KEEN CUTTERS..Cooperate & State Propaganda at its Best..:happy097:

  19. I thought the same thing from the outside. It looks great on the outside but between the scales it’s all kinds of a mess. Kind of weird honestly. I’ll give the file a shot though. Might be able to get it all out.

  20. That’s pretty interesting. I hadn’t read it like that when I looked over it on first glance. That’s a fun piece of historical significance.
