  1. As suggested, I am joining the thread. I just joined TSD, but the timing is perfect. As a newcomer into Classic Wet Shaving, this is my plan for February:

Purpose: improve shaving technique with DE razor and minimize cuts/bleeding
    Razor: Qshave adjustable
    Blade: Qshave
Soap: La Toja stick (making lather in bowl)
    Brush: Qshave Pure Badger

  5. Shavettes users are definitely members of the dark side. Shavettes are a genre of straights in my book. Actually shavettes are advanced training for dark side members.
  6. Glad to have you! Enter and learn!

Pre-shave: hot shower & Nivea Men Sensitive Face Wash
Gel: Nivea Men Maximum Hydration Moisturizing Shaving Gel (No Brush)
    Razor: Gem MicroMatic OC
    Blade: Gem Stainless (3)
Post-shave: Assured WH, Nivea Men Maximum Hydration Moisturizing PS Balm, Aqua Velva Cooling AS

Quick shave this afternoon after taking care of errands and chores. The wind chill is very cold today so the face required some "Maximum Hydration" to recuperate. Using the Nivea gel allowed for a fast, but pleasant 2 pass shave with the MMOC on my face. My face feels refreshed and the Aqua Velva smells great! No blood and no irritation today. Yea!

    Happy shaves everyone!

  10. Not meant for this thread but if Fuzzy tells you an ant can pull a train take it on faith and go flag the crossing...rant off.
  11. I'm not sure of any drug stores that may carry them, but it appears that the usual online retailers- canadianbladeco, fendrihan, IB, menessentials, do not. There are lots available on Amazon.ca, however.

I was in the mood for a noisy shave so my extra hollow Drew Dick razor got the call along with a puck of Tabac I am trying to finish for Adam's soap challenge. Four passes and zero irritation but a small operator error caused a small nick.

    Irritation A Closeness A Smoothness A+ Sharpness A+

Razor: Drew Dick 5/8 extra hollow
    Stop: Herold ‘Russian’
    Brush: Rooney Best
    Pre: Proraso
    Soap: Tabac
    AS: Speick AS, L’Ocittane ASB
    Scent: Dior Cuir Cannage

  16. I found the best place to get Gem-style blades from Canada was Connaught Shaving in the UK. It sells the Gem PTFE blades in bulk packs of 100. I bought a couple packs plus some soaps and other stuff which got me free shipping but even without free shipping their price is competitive.

Of course, the thicker SE blades last longer than DE ones -- at least a week each -- so two 100-packs of SE blades would be enough to last me for 4 years if I shaved using only Gems ... which I don’t. Realistically I think I have more blades now than I need for the rest of my life. So if you want a few to try before you lay in a big supply, PM me your address and I'll toss three or four in an envelope and send it your way. Enough to know if the Gem is going to be your thing or not.
  17. Thank you, Keith!

    Thank you, Bruce!

Love that complexion. It's what we're all striving for! :happy102:
