February 9th Gillette NEW LC w Polsilver (4) Omega ‘49/ Walnut B&M Seville SS Thayers Stirling Barbershop AS Day 8 with the NEW. Face-lathered another nice lather (I guess this happens when your focus is on your favourite soaps...) and had a very pleasant 2 pass shave. Touched up along my jawline a bit, and I’d call this a DFS. Hadn’t grabbed the Barbershop in a bit, for whatever reason, and it was a super finish to the shave. I’m going to switch out the NEW for the humble, neglected, prewar Tech for the next round of favourite shaves. Have a great day all!
What's this about Fine? I didn't see how the conversation began, but I think you were saying that they raised the price and weakened the scents.
That's where I am with both the Rte 66 Cavendish and the Local Gent Co..Fields&Streams...opening in the middle, soap remains on the sides. You might have just missed the baby, but he looks good anyway.
When I bought the new bottle of American Blend some guys in a shaving Facebook I belong to asked if I had heard about a formulation change. I had not and a couple of them said that the new Fine bottles are less potent in scent strength. They are also more expensive than the previous iteration - now $20 per bottle. I didn't mind the price increase so much if the quality was the same, but I noticed a big difference between the two generations this morning. But hey, it is what it is! First world problems!
Lee has already done that at WSP...., the price-raising anyway. I have to presume he is keeping the scents strong though, as I have no proof otherwise.
Fat Friday!! I wasn’t going for the “ivory look” - it’s just how it worked out. Today’s shave was brought to me by the following: Razor: Gillette Fat Boy (195) Soap: MWF Brush: Simpson Duke 3 Blade: Astra SP AS: Old Spice The Fat loaded nicely with the Duke and provided plenty of slick lather for the shave. Two passes on setting Neal, a generous splash of Old Spice, and I’m good to go. Hope everyone has a great Friday!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
It's the Al Gore solution. "There is no controlling legal authority that says this was in violation of law." Not that laws weren't broken, but since no one has been prosecuted yet... Note; I'm going to need to open another file to start saving Nealogisms. My PDF of the TSD political Science textbook is getting too many dogeared pages.
Glad to hear their products are good. I'm sure they have a certain market that they're shooting for, which is perfectly fine. So long as their products are good and people like them, they'll do OK. The Lost Provence scent does sound good.
Agreed on the Palmolive. I got a stick from Randy @BaylorGator from his Shavey awards last spring and love it. The Palmolive Creams, especially the Menthol, are winners as well.
I shoukd probably put out an app so they're all available on your phone. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
Wow. Very cool notion to actually make a synthetic knot. I believe Rick @RyX has also commented about potentially making his own knot. He may weigh in with some advice. His was to be horsehair, as I recall.
I'll second the nomination for the NEW LC being the best vintage Gillette, in the category of three piece razors. My SC Deluxe is still awaiting a trip to be re-plated, then it will get some time to try and knock off its LC brother. In the category of vintage Gillette TTO razor, non-adjustable - I would put the Aristocrat on top. In the category of vintage Adjustable Gillette - I would put the Fatboy. Just my opinion.
