Busy day today... shoveled a lot of snow at mom's place, and then getting her to an appointment. Did a late day shower and shave and I'm feeling refreshed, although tired. Overall, a wonderful DFS shave. No complaints. I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Your shave buddy is a little cutie! That is some fine looking lather she whipped up. She could probably teach some of us how to lather Williams the right way.

But, does anyone else notice the first "sin" these guys are committing? Where are their tripods? For photojournalists that would be acceptable. For product photography...absolutely not.

I think he did a way better job shaping the bottom half of that brush . More robust looking and I just like it .

Ugh you're getting snow too. Seems like that's all it's been doing here past week. And of course I sold my snowmobile last year . Good thing I took up wet shaving or the cabin fever would have got to me long ago. Happy shoveling.

A close shave today on my hairy old mug.
With two days of growth, I looked like a slug.
The SRX did just what it does best.
It's the funnest new toy in my little toy chest.

Two passes and touch ups, and I'm slick as butter.
One look by my Bride, and her heart was a-flutter.
"Thank goodness, no Williams," she happily said.
"Even molested, you would have used it and bled."

"Oh no, dear Sweetie," I quickly replied.
"I used some good lather that my Chubby applied."
So we left hand-in-hand for a late-morning date
And not one little detail did I fabricate.

It was a decent workout. In spite of the temp at 10F I sweated a couple of pounds off.

VDH Deluxe is the only one of their soaps I've tried but it's one I always liked. A lot. Easy to lather, great feeling and slick lather - makes it a great value at the price you can get it for. I used it for my head shaves for well over a year before switching to Arko. The reason for the switch? Just felt like having 12+ sticks of Arko sitting around doing nothing because I was using others for my face was kind of a waste of the investment. VDH is one of those soaps that serves to remind us that you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a great shave.

February 10 - A week with Williams. Day 2

Second day on my Week of Williams. Also on the carbon blade with the OCMM. I switched to my other small boar brush, the Semogue 620 and went after the Williams with the same plan as yesterday. Wet the puck, fairly wet brush, load until hell freezes over. Since we're getting freezing rain and sleet tonight it didn't take all that long. The lather in the brush looked good so I took it to the face to finish it. The initial appearance was.........not bad actually. Picked up the razor and started in.

First pass smooth, effective, overall nice feel and....the lather lasted through it. It's still a thinner lather than I'm used to with Stiring, et al, but it stuck around and was plenty slick. Lathered up again and made it out the second pass with only a couple of gaps in the lather. Best lasting Williams lather I've had yet. Did some neck touch up and grabbed the alum. Quiet as it could be. Nice. I clearly have the OCMM tamed, or it at least respects me when I handle it right. And clearly the Williams was slick enough to keep it smooth and irritation free as well. Hard to complain about a shave like that. So, I won't. We'll move on to day three tomorrow and see if I can get it even better. Besides, I think Fuzzy needs a break from the comments for a night. Let him get a good night's sleep.

A couple of notes - our day trip over to Illinois yesterday included a stop at a very cool antique store called Ten Pin antiques. It's a former bowling alley with the lanes still intact and lots of cool bowling memorabilia mixed into the selection. I found a box of three straight razors with a $10 price tag on it. Had them get it out of the cabinet hoping the blades would be sound so they could be refurbished and sold for a little profit. No such luck. Lots of rust and all three had frowns to a varying degree plus lots of hone wear. They did have some old brushes and mugs but they were more like ebay dream prices than what I would have expected. Enjoyed the stop but left without spending anything.

The dates for the Meet Up - almost ready to make it public. Working on a couple more items that need to be ready to go. Hang tight, by this time tomorrow night we'll be putting it all together! Have a great Sunday!

Dan - how does the Tabac get along with Pinaud Vanilla? I like the soap, but haven't quite collected all versions of Ed's scents. That's one I'm still missing.
And "Uh oh". Never owned one of those Marvy brushes, but they are known to be shedders. How's yours doing?

I bash Williams normally, but when you get it to work, even semi-right, it's quite slick and does a great job. My issue is consistency.

They go fine together. I don't have many aftershaves, but the Classic Vanilla is one that I do have. I don't smell the vanilla most times. I like the scent a lot, and so does my bride. I just wish the "hang time" was longer.
