Fabulous February This Riga has a lot of shaves on it and while it is retaining it's sharpness the smoothness took a drop today, time for a quick touch. Still working this tub of Tabac, it is getting low but I don't think it will fall this month. Very late to the party. I will join in with the prayers. I am a huge fan of the Omega 98 pro. I think it is the same knot as the 48 but I like the handle more. I have 2 hand made brushes that use this knot. It is indeed awesomelicious. It was great first use today!! Humm like WILLIAMS? Used the Haslinger Sandlewood @wristwatchb sent me. WOW!! Great stuff. Thanks again Charlie!! The G1 was its smooth awesome self.
Favorite February February 13 - A week with Williams. Day 5 Razor - Gem MMOC Blade - ASR Carbon - CVS (2) Soap - Williams Brush - Omega 10066 BoS Post - Alum By Jove, I think he's got it! Yep. That's Williams. That I myself made. Nobody else helped with that. All mine. And, once applied for the first pass, the lather lasted through the pass. Thinned a bit, but it stayed where it was supposed to be. I added a touch of water and beat it like it owed Fuzzy money and got the same consistency for the second pass. Didn't take much extra but I wanted it back to this state. It did fade a bit more during that pass but I took longer on the second pass as I was doing touch ups. The shave itself was smooth, comfortable, finished DFS and the alum was mostly quiet. No complaints at all. Now, two more days with the Williams to see if I can get it right for three in a row. We may be in miracle territory here.
Busy start to the week so I’m a day behind here. This week in continuing my Mass market versus artisan showdown I decided to do a French style soap show down. Monday I used Caties Bubbles Irish coffee paired with Old Spice and Today I used Pre de Provence 63 with B&M Classic. Both were great shaves and both soaps smell awesome. February MMXVIII Focused on Favorites 12th 13th After a shave break on Sunday, settled in for some Ingram and Osage. Menthol Monday is one of my fave things...two passes and a chilly finish. Today I went back to the Magic, and hit day four on the Palmolive. I've been struggling to describe the scent. The scent is very similar to VDH Luxury, clean, a little sandalwood/barbershop, and all around a good soap. It was chosen for fave status because it was a gift from a forum brother. Those are my faves! After a great weekend, I have settled back in, just too busy to post regularly until tonight. @jtspartan -- brush still looks new and performs flawlessly, urethane holding up well. It's been really good over the last six months and just wanted to share that to our group. Looking forward to a big Wednesday! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
Glad to hear that the brush is holding up well, Chris. I thought the marine grade product would make for a good long term finish, but to be honest, I didn’t really know as my first brushes with it only had about 4 months use before the 30DCs.
If a product hits the shelf at Big Lots, consider stocking up. Much of their merchandise is discontinued products. My favorite teethpaste disappeared at Kroger & Walmart. When I saw it at Big Lots I got a couple. Yup, discontinued.
The copy of the handle you made for me will be the most photo documented brush wear in the history of shave forums. I plan on rocking it until the wheels fall off. Looks like years at this point!
February 14, 2018 OneBlade Genesis V2 Feather FHS Wild West Brushworks 30mm Tuxedo Fine Platinum This week continues to fly by which is par for the course this time of the year. As expected the huge WWB Tuxedo whipped up a rich slick lather with no issues. Three passes and touch ups ended in the expected near perfect shave. So far the Feather FHS has worked very well but the performance has dropped off considerably. A splash of Fine Platinum and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
Uuhm no. Same scent category, not even close in strength. Williams is more old school, Grandma’s house, soapy. Electric Sheep is like lathering up a Deep Woods Off mosquito candle. It is serious love it, or it is not for you. There is no middle ground.
Sometimes after reviewing too many gourmand soaps, one needs to rock the house with some Clubman. Yowza! (That is all.)
SOTD February 14, 2018 Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: Schick Proline Razor: Schick G4 '66' injector Brush: Restored Surrey badger Lather: Reef Point Classic Barbershop Post: Witch hazel, Reef Point Classic Barbershop aftershave WTG, touch up Nice shave today. Went with a blue theme in the photo. This brush might be my favorite and the Schick 66 is a great choice as well. All came together nicely. Have a great day!
