  2. Out of curiosity, where is that particular stick made? Mine is German, but I understand there are different ones out there. Your stick base/holder looks a little different than the ones I have.
The Palmolive Cream I have is from Italy.
Sounds like you are definitely looking forward to the weekend, Clint. Sounds like a nice shave to start the weekend, though. Weird about the knot still smelling. Is it a tuxedo? I can't tell from the pic, but if it is, mine hasn't had a scent at all to it.
Beautiful looking razor, Jim, and obviously a good performer with a two pass BBS as well.
Looks like you are going to have a few more entries in Adam's draw.
Is the lunar New Year a holiday in S Korea as it is in China, Keith?
Stunning photo of the nice matching gear, Mark.
Funny, I often call it the humble Tech as well. Have you used the new B&M soap/aftershave for a review yet?
Yup, now it is Friday...the one day a week no one seems to comment on your shave gear, Andrew.:)
Hope you have a fun birthday with Logan!

Andrew- I'll be switching to an E3 on the 20th for the last third of the month.

A sense of calm has settled on the 30DC crew now that it’s officially Friday and we celebrate the little guy’s birthday. :greet002:

  9. Andrew @Linuxguile, good report and picture about your time with the GameChanger razor. Better one of both about Logan's birthday! :)

  10. Or we can simply blame the artful skill, and depth of experience of the man who created the Williams lather. :yoda

  11. I am looking forward to the weekend. I hope my health and the weather allow me to get in a short motorcycle ride on Sunday. To my knowledge it is a Tuxedo knot. It almost smells like the epoxy I sometimes use to set the knots. I got the brush in December and noticed it then. I had hoped the smell would go away with time and use. I am very aware of chemical type scents that many don't notice at all so it could be my over sensitivity.
  12. Thanks John!

  13. Until earlier this week, I had an unmounted Tuxedo knot sitting around here. It had no scent at all. If it smells sort of like epoxy, then the smell is probably from the glue holding the knot. Perhaps it hasn't quite finished curing? Maybe leave it out somewhere warm, dry and well-ventilated - possibly even with a bit of sunlight - and let it sit for a couple of weeks and see if that makes a difference...

  15. Fat Friday!

Let’s do ivory again, shall we?

Today’s shave was brought to me by the following:

    Razor: Gillette Fat Boy (195)
    Brush: Simpson Duke 3
    Soap: MWF
    Blade: Feather
A/S: Old Spice (yeah, the new stuff)

The Simpson is getting well broken-in. It produced tons of good, slick lather. I think I’ll sit it aside and jump back to the Thater for a little bit to get it broken-in some more. The gear did its job very well, however, I had a little technique lapse that resulted in a touch of blood. My bad. Kept it at two passes and a little touch-up. In the end, I finished up nice and smooth - I don’t even see a trace of my mishap, nor is there any irritation. Good to go!

  16. I agree it's the epoxy. I bought the brush with the knot installed back in October so I don't think the smell is going to get much better. I will try cleaning it with vinegar or something when I get a chance. If that doesn't work I will end up replacing the knot.

  19. Friday February 16 - February Faves TSD edition

    Schick E2 / Personna (4)
    Kent BK12 humongous badger brush
    TSD Lavender lanolin soap
Alum and TSD Milk Aftershave Lavender

    IMG_00000161.jpg

This will probably be my last photo this month since the setup isn't going to change at all in appearance - possibly a change to the side label on the TSD soap tub but that's it. I have been using Lavender for the last week, will switch to Sandalwood for a week and then end the month with a couple days of Bay Rum. I am also going to stick with this brush and razor for the rest of the month.

Good shave today. No fuss, no drama, DFS.

  20. First and foremost - Happy Birthday Logan!!! :greet002:
Always great to see him in your Friday post!

I have a bone to pick with you mister!! You're enabling. Yes - I'm looking at you Andrew! You're talkin' up the Maseto brush - which I've been checking out (and I think somehow you knew that) - and I just bought two brushes. I don't need to be buyin' more (right now)! The last two cost me a cat (we gained one, we didn't lose one in a sacrifice or anything). So - just you stop it with your enabling ways!

Eh, nevermind. Keep it up...the photos are great!
