  4. Wade came up to visit for the weekend. We went to the range and weather permitting will go for a motorcycle ride tomorrow. He was kind enough to bring a shaving related gift.

I had given him my OneBlade Core to try last year. When OneBlade ran their Christmas Sale he ended up with a big savings on the OneBlade plus the Core and two sets of brushes, creams and aftershave balms. Just when I thought I was working my way out using up soaps and gifting brushes, I am sucked back in. Really I am pleased that he thought to share the loot and am looking forward to giving it a go.

    Razor: English Flat-Bottom New
    Blade: GSB (1)
    Brush: VdH Boar
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

A great shave from a couple of favorites that haven't seen much use in a while, the English Flat Bottom New and the GSB. The VdH boar showed its displeasure at being ignored for a while by shedding a bit; not the worst it's ever shed, but noticeable. This is clearly not a brush that I can just grab and lather with without some preparation.

  6. Saturday February 17 - TSD faves and a new acquisition

I said yesterday I wouldn't be posting any more photos this month, because my gear was going to be the same for the rest of the month: Schick E2 injector, Kent BK12 brush, TSD lanolin soap and milk aftershave. Then a package arrived in the mail from Jason @jtspartan... Behold the Soap Aircraft Carrier's new Dry Dock...

    IMG_00000163.jpg
That photo was taken after shaving. There's enough soap left in that brush and in the bowl for at least two, possibly three, more passes. And the monster brush can whip it all in that bowl with plenty of space and no slopover.

A good, smooth shave today. I don’t know what the Alum would have reported, because I was so busy admiring The Bowl (or The Dry Dock) that I forgot to use it...

Nice, relaxing shave earlier this morning. Switched out the IS, put a Feather into the Tech and went with the Lavanille after a bit of chatter about it yesterday. @clint64 , I refrained from finishing it off with some Clubman . Went with the Booster instead, as well as a little balm on my neck.
    Have a great weekend all!

  10. Ummm...didn’t you buy a razor yesterday, Clint? ‘Working my way out’? :happy102:
Nice looking present from a friend.
  11. Congrats on the bowl John. It looks fantastic. :happy096:

  12. That may be a smaller knot in terms of diameter, Keith, but it looks like it has bloomed out very nicely and has the appearance of knots that are bigger.
Sounds like a great shave to wipe away the M-F, Clint. Enjoy your time with your buddy today.
Sorry to hear that you had to go in to work today, Jim. Hopefully you can be home to your family at a decent hour.
I’ve punted on a few soaps myself in the past few months.
What an artistic looking picture, Mark. Very cool.
    Great looking brush!
I swear that John and I didn’t plan to post those two bowl pictures together back-to-back. There is one more being delivered and then I think I’m done making that style and look of lather bowl and will move onto something else. Most folks who indicated they would like to be in the 30DC raffle for one did eventually get one, I think.
  13. :happy097: It's all good. Great photo Jason. :eatdrink047:

  17. I did give into my weakness and buy a razor yesterday. I blame @wristwatchb for enabling me and @Keithmax for showing a photo of the Rocnel SE-G razor. I couldn't help myself and started looking at the various forum BST pages. Having consumed adult several adult beverages when I spotted the listing on DFS, I bought it right away. It serves me right for enabling Wade to buy a OneBlade Genesis.

Thank you Jason. So far this has been a gold letter day. Just what I needed.

  18. If you bought it from a BST ad, it doesn’t even count. First of all, no new products entered the supply chain. Secondly, you bought it at a discount from retail. Third, you are simply helping an individual with an addiction along the road to recovery as he sheds afflicting items.

    Carry on.
  19. BULLY!!! You Sir may proceed along the path!!
  20. I like that reasoning. :D I got the razor that is no longer available in black at 33% off of current retail for the regular model. I did ok I think.
