  1. Thank you, Clint!
  2. Terrific picture, Bruce! I really like the filter; it gives the picture a very vintage vibe.

Thank you John. I'll call it a G8 until someone tells me different. Things were so simple when I only owned Gillette DEs.
  4. Great picture, Rick!

  6. That seems like it. I still have a couple of days to file a formal dispute through AliExpress, though I'm not sure it's worth the trouble.

I picked up one of the VdH green kits on clearance a while back. I'm thinking I might combine it, the Baili, and some blades do a starter kit PIF somewhere in the future.

I was pretty excited for today’s shave. I just got the Mozingo from a BST on another site, and bought it mostly because it had the Envy Silvertip. I have been meaning to get one for a while, because I enjoy the Envy Whites so much, so BAD kicked in. Well, here is what happened:

I am not too depressed about it yet. The seller has a good reputation, said it had only been lathered a few times and didn’t mention any shedding. So I expect something happened in transport. The brush was wrapped (not in a box or tube) and sent in a mailer. It froze hard between Florida and MN, so it is very possible that hairs were broken in shipping. When I got it, I gave it a vinegar rinse and a shampoo, followed by a light combing. I could have also pulled them loose, especially if it is a newer knot. Also, those hairs all came out pretty much right away, and then it stopped. No more hairs in the bowl or on my face. When I rinsed the brush afterwards, I combed it again. No more hairs. It is also like 20% humidity in my house this time of year, and my brushes can get brittle when they sit. That is why I soak all of them before use. The vinegar bath and the harsh drying could have done it too.

Hopefully that got it, and I can chalk it up to winter and shipping, cause it is a really nice knot. I would say it is a touch less soft than a top of the line silvertip, but it is plenty soft, and has some presence. It is not floppy. I will lather it again tomorrow, and hopefully it won’t lose anymore.

  17. The brush does look great Jared. My Envy White shed some in the beginning. Maybe that is what is going on with yours as well.

  18. Thanks. One of my Whites went through a phase after it was broken in, but came out of it. I am pretty patient with working a new(er) brush through it. Other than what I think was a Whipped Dog three band, and a couple of Semogue boars, they have all straightened out. In my opinion, when you cross the performance with the price tag on a lot of these newer knots (Yaqi, Envy, TGN etc...) a little patience is cheap. If it was a $150 Shavemac or Simpson knot, I might not have the same amount of patience.

I’m thinking lidded shaving soap bowls next, actually. Got some rounds cut before skiing today.

  20. Congrats on a nice shave with your "new" razor! The whole setup is great - and a very nice photo of it! I have a sample of the Piacenza that I still need to try....gotta get around to that.
