I needed my poker face this morning at the flea market. While asking for stones, I was told by a dealer he had two pen knife stones. He was half right, he had a stone and a hone. The stone is a Hohenzollern Abziehstein with rub stone and a fairly good label. The hone, looking unused is a Relance by AM Hone Co. Not a bad way to start the day
Eary 1900's "Unsinger" Single Edge Razor sold by the Unsinger Novelty Co. Razors were made for numerious businesses and sold for $1.00 as advertising/promotions. The razor were packed in Black and/or dark Green boxes with the companies information on the box top. I picked this up because it's from my home state and in really (box) great condition. The razor handle nothing fancy solid steel. Weighs in a 1.37 oz. This will be (so far) the only razor I've aquired that I have not/will not shave with. Not willing to mess with carving up a GEM blade.
I'm looking forward to it. I hope it cleaned up okay, i's pretty rough, much worse that it looks in the pic. Herm
A few things today. A cased Gillette which needs the correct head (New SC) and re-lined. The blade bank will go for my Bostonian, and I will now have to re-line that case. A handle from a DeFitch razor from @John Ruschmeyer, and the WW2 Tech head from the case will go to him. Also, I took a trip to Rite Aid and saw that Aqua Velva Musk was marked down 50%, it was the last one. When I went to check out, I didn't have a Rite Aid card with me, my GF had it in the car. The sales person must've used his and it was reduced more to $1.41 with tax. Second pic showing the DeFitch handle on my Maggard Old Type head and the outside of the case which should polish up nicely.
Just got this in ... it's a Simms Rajah shaving brush made in Canada since 1866. Still unsure, but probably going to install a nice badger knot in it.
Checked my mailbox this evening. An unexpected parcel arrived from Andrew @Linuxguile . I had joked about wanting a NEW SC but would wait ‘til next year (NB ‘18). There it was, complete with some Spoiler blades. What a great surprise. Another awesome gesture by a TSDer!
A package from england was waiting for me.. Gents, when you hear rattling from a package that shouldn’t be rattling .. be concerned..... very concerned My English velvet razor that was originally in a Bakelite Gillette Case was loose along with the 10 or so blades along with a now destroyed Bakelite Gillette Case... why on earth would he use a bubble mailer to send across the Atlantic when I paid him $22 for shipping?? Ugh!!!
She cleaned up reasonably well but I'm struggling to get the blade release spring clip to slide as I think it's supposed to. If someone is intimate with an Empire set maybe you could shoot me a PM. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
