I wish, I had more information on it, but many brush manufacturers left extremely limited information on their product. The best I could hope for is to find advertising regarding the brushes. many or the Rubberset brushes look the same as the Simms and I know Rubberset had a plant in Canada, but not sure exactly where.
I am from New Brunswick and I know Simms head office is still here although the factory has moved to Ontario and I believe they only manufacture paint brushes . I will dig deeper and let you know .
Found at my local antique shop: an A1 Gillette Flare Tip, and a stoneware OS mug. It will most likely hold Arko.
Thanks for the information. You should tell them there in a resurgence of wet shaving and they should start producing them again.
The old factory was torn down about 5 years ago and everything moved to another province. They treated their workers with highest respect and it was a good place to work . The 4th or 5th generation of Simms is running it now . Nobody supports local until they move away and everyone cries . Chinese are hard to compete with eg :Yaqi brushes . I , myself will never own one but that's just my opinion. I will buy more hand made brushes from guys on here , even though pretty much all knots come from China. At least the handle will still give me that warm feeling every time I pick it up.
I used a DeFitch handle on a tech head from one that had a plastic handle, didn't like the weight. It turned out to be one of the best shaving razors I have. It is the handle from the first DeFitch razor that had problems with the quality of the head assembly. I paid like $5 for it and it came with 10 Treet blades, a pine box, and glass window on the box. I figured the handle alone was worth the price.
That's one of the reasons I restore ... one; I'm cheap and two; I like unique thing that not everyone has. My wife ask if I was going to sell the Simms brush. I responded that I planned on restoring it first then deciding, but that could change as well.
Happy days in the Fuzzyhood. Thanks to @PickledNorthern i get to try Sterling soaps. Top of the list is the Electric Sheep!! I also got some goodies in from @sdguero.
