February 21 SOTD: Razor: Timeless Bronze OC Blade: Sputnik Brush: Ever-Ready 400 Lather: Wholly Kaw Monaco Royale Aftershave: Wholly Kaw Monaco Royale Additional Care: Stirling Unscented PSB Late post for this mornings shave, as I had to run out of the house right after. I rushed the shave, and the razor rewarded me with a couple of small nicks. It will bite if not respected. Still a close shave, and I used one of my favorite soaps. A pretty good start to me day. Next time, I am pulling out some Shavette Fu on the pictures! I hope everyone is having a great day!
Thank you. I’ve had a bunch of those rushed days myself lately, Jim. I trust all is good. There has been lots of praise for Wholly Kaw lately. Is it the performance or scent that you consider to be a favourite?
I'm guessing you find it too abrasive? There are ways to hasten the breaking in process. With boar it's mostly just use it - a month pretty much does it. If scritchiness is the issue and you are shopping for another consider a synthetic. The very early ones wern't much more than nylon fishing line all packed in a knot. Pokey, didn't hold lather well, and looked like what they were. Several generations later and some folks are giving up on natural fiber, Boar or Badger, for the latest man made knots. They are consistent in not needing to be broken in since the fibers don't change. Softness right from the start, and they dry quickly. Without the natural sourcing there's no animal smell, and less chance of getting icky from mold or fungal growth.
SOTD 2.21.2018 Pre-shave: hot shower Brush: Barburys synthetic Soap: Williams Mug Shaving Soap Razor: Schick G1 Blade: Schick Post-shave: Assured WH, Aqua Velva Sensitive 5 in 1 PS Balm, Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue Cooling AS Had a quick, 2 pass Williams shave this afternoon. Lately, I've been avoiding the "baby chase" and simply going for a comfortable shave. That I achieved. I hadn't used the G1 in many months. I'll use it again on the next shave. I hope everyone is having a great week!
Thank you, Andrew! Thanks, Clint! The performance and the scent are both top notch. This donkey milk base is slick with great post shave feel. It is a great all around soap.
Why does this remind me of the guy who said the curveball was an optical illusion. Sandy Koufax told him to stand behind a tree 60 feet away, and he'd beat him to death with an optical illusion.
Cool razor, Jim! Thanks, Jim! Dang it! The perceived reality didn't melt! Where's Peaches to explain this? Thanks, Andrew! Thank you, Clint!
You got that right! The OCMM is never really tamed. Blink to hard and it will bite. So work has been busy and keeping up across the street is taking some time. I will try hard to catch up here soonest.
I let you down....here we go: And of course, because @Keithmax and @BaylorGator get it....let's say it another way. Peaches, on Taming the Lion: (FWIW...those aren't sunflowers, but whatever.)
I think I am in a phase. No shaves last couple of days. Since it's Feb...and Nenah is a fave....and I have no shaves to write about:
