  2. Connaught Shaving is a really good supplier of shaving goods in the UK. I don't know of any other suppliers where you can get an inexpensive synthetic brush in the UK.

  3. Head down to the supermarket and get it. A bargain at twice the price.

  4. That's not a promotional price, that's the price all year round... I assume that Palmolive is a European brand - thus making import more expensive for you fellas!

  5. Thank you for the link, I'll be sure to check them out!

  6. Yes, Palmolive is European. The stick I have is made in Germany, and the cream I have is made in Italy. It is inexpensive here as well, but not quite as dirt cheap as there.

  7. I just received a shipment of two sticks of Palmolive from GB. Cost me all of $4.09 / £2.93 with free shipping for the pair. Having sampled it last year it was time to invite it into my den.
Great post shave feel, and I think it softened up my old boar brush bristles!

Someone asked. Here's my thoughts on Proraso Green soap VS. C.O.Bigelow creme. Attempting to perform a controlled experiment I used two brushes with the same boar knot, similar prep methods, and the same razor. Mitigating factors; The knot in the aluminum handle is newer and stiffer so it loaded from the tub easily, whereas the black plastic handled brush is softer from extensive breakin but not enough to preclude loading hard soaps from a tub. Both were prepared in similar textured ceramic bowls of similar size. The Proraso is a fairly fresh tub, the C.O. B. is nearly empty but showing no signs of deterioration.

Slightly moistening both brushes, but with no soaking time, easy lather was achieved from both products. The scent appears identical. Shaving first the right side with C.O.B in a W,A,& XTG pattern, followed by a thorough rinse with cool tap water. Second on the left in the same pattern & razor using Proraso.
Finished results feel the same, as was the scent, glide, & residual slickness. No errors from a well known razor, and the Osage gave me that wintery cool that's not happening here on the South Coast right now.
Conclusion; C.O.Bigelow is prehydrated in a squeeze tube. Proraso Green is a soft soap. As far as I can tell without looking at ingredients they are identical soap bases.
    Good Shaves Y'all!
  9. Nice comparison, Rick!

  10. Oh I did not mean get it for the price. I meant get it because it is a top of the rack shave stick. A stick of German goodness.

  12. Since Proraso makes C.O. Bigelow they should be pretty much identical. Probably identical to Proraso cream in a tube.

  20. I loaded a blade in both and they are good to go. Hard to tell in my less than professional photo attempts. I bought one of these a couple years back and one of the blade stops was broken off. I couldn't tell that in the pics they had posted. These were sold as a set so I figured if something was amiss I had two chances to get one good razor. I believe I have two. Bonus!
