Simple Shave Nirvana! Took the day off. Started my journey a couple of months back. Shaved every day except 2 since, cause I wanted to. Never shaved that much with a non electric in my life. The first day off cause I hurt, today because I am still happy with yesterday's shave. Not sure if I know what a BBS shave is yet, don't care! I'm happy. I studied here and applied sound advice that worked for me. I have not missed the small snippets of the lives here. Thanks and best wishes. Bill
FW = Florida Water? James - very glad you find it suits your needs! It looks better in your photo that tucked away in a cabinet in my den.
Ok Randy @BaylorGator, I'm about to have lunch with my wife and put on a splash of Night Music, we'll see how it goes. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
You have already learned one of the most basic lessons. While we talk about BBS shaves and sometimes even chase them, they aren't the most important part of this. The student will soon become the master. Apparently we need to establish some sort of degree program here so we can graduate people along in their journey. How about a Bachelor of DE, Master of Shaving in SE and the always revered Doctor of Straights? There's either potential, or at least several good jokes in there. Glad we have had a positive impact with your shaving and in friendship! That's what this group is about.
I read back through this part of my message and think I could have stated it better, but it seems you got my point. I consider myself among friends. To those I do not know, who have seen to share personal challenges in an increasingly calloused world, I am gratefully touched.
One thing I'm sure of....anything that tries to kick a Marine's butt will end up regretting it. So my money's on you Doug. Thinking of you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
My thoughts are with you Doug! Got a little carried away today... Did my usual 2xWTG shave, and then decided to go ahead and do XTG on cheeks and jawline. I must say... My face feels amazing to touch, but the alum and my skin are telling me I went too close for comfort. I think that I need to keep on practising the WTG shaves using the skin stretching and work up to 3 comfortable passes of that before adding anything else into the mix. James
Multiple techniques to all learn and apply for that best outcome on a regular basis. Beard mapping will tell you with, across and against the grain patterns. Skin stretching keeps the surface taunt for better blade to beard interface. Sounds like those are working out. Next could be your angle of attack - Riding the cap! Assuming you were using cartridge or electric razors it's time for a Pressure Drop. Light touch as though wiping the lather away instead of mashing the tool to your skin. Some of those cartridge razors have bumpers and glide strips that hold the blades off the skin "for your safety", but only work with pressure. Keep at it! Soon you'll find your small improvements add up to the best shaves of your life.
