  1. I have been watching a fair few 'hot towel shave' barbershop vidoes on YouTube over the past several days, and have noticed that they only ever seem to do 2 passes. 1st WTG and the 2nd XTG... Do you achieve a closer, smoother shave when shaving with a straight/shavette?

  2. Thanks very much. Everything will work out well. Live everyday like it's your last and some day you will be right.

  8. Thanks Doug! The Atomic Rocket has a nice heavy handle and at $12.95 is a real deal! Perfect for my large hands. I re-knotted it with an Envy Two Band.

  9. I hope you keep feeling better.

I do 4 passes no matter what the razor, Be it DE, SE or straight razor including shavettes. I can achieve the same results with all razors. I just enjoy the straights a little bit more and on average a little less irritation.

  13. Terrific shave, John. Funny how the routine of shaving can have a recuperative effect when you don’t feel well. Glad you’re feeling some better, and I hope you continue to do so.

  15. Thank you, gentlemen!
  16. Okay, twelve hours after I posted my shave report I can now say I am caught up on the 22 pages of posts I had missed.

Many great shave gear photos and reports were posted, gentlemen! I was just remembering the standard quality amateur photo when I first started learning to take photos -- the Brownie family snapshot. If taken by my grandmother, with the top of everyone's head cut off in every photo... Doug @Douglas Carey creates a shaving calendar each year, but he is by no means the only person here on the Crew turning out calendar-worthy shots.

Some world-class physics and metaphysics were discussed, with the conversation fuelled and directed by the inestimable Peaches...

Brian @mrchick, I am glad your wife turned out not to be badly hurt in the end. I trust she will soon be fully recovered from her fall.

Clint @clint64, glad to hear your wife had a good birthday with both daughters able to visit. It's great that Maya's rehab is progressing so well. Now if your specialists can only get a lock on your issues...

Doug @Douglas Carey, I have missed your posts the last while. Sorry to hear about the cancer diagnosis and the double whammy of radiation and chemotherapy. Those treatments are nobody's idea of fun but they do often work remarkably well. I will keep you in my prayers.
  17. Thanks, Dan. I am completely back to normal (well, as normal as I ever get...). @Jayaruh always ends his shave reports with "I am clean, smooth, and refreshed." Which is a good description of how a shave makes me feel when I am down...

And now that I am feeling so much better I need to go look at those little lectures by Peaches again. Maybe this time I will be able to wrap my mind around the concept of the Slinky of Time...
  18. Wonderful picture, Mark!

Today is my middle daughter's birthday, so I pulled out something she likes. This is a terrific tobacco flower scent with great performance. It is quite as good as the donkey milk base, but it still does a great job. I was a bit rushed this morning, so it was a quick two pass DFS. All in all, a nice start to my day. I hope everyone has a great day!

The past few days have been pretty hectic, so I'm behind on shave reports. Thursday and yesterday were no-shave days and Friday was an easy shave with the Flat-Bottom English Tech and GSB. Hopefully, this week will go as smoothly as today's shave with the J1 and a Japanese Twin. :)
