In an effort to get the Rocnel SE-G dialed in I decided to stay with it for today's shave. After spending the last couple of weeks with synthetic brushes, it was time for a favorite badger brush. So up for the week is the Elite Razor Desert Ironwood with Envy White knot, aka "Tres Amigos". With a rich lather of Rossa, I went with a 3 pass shave. The razor works best with a very shallow angle and an extremely light touch. I slowed down and paid attention to my technique using skin stretching and short shaving strokes. With minimal touch ups along my jawline and neck, I ended up with my usual near perfect shave. While the shave was drama free with no nicks or weepers, it was a little harsh. I think this was operator error in not maintaining the angle. I will stick with this razor for the next week and see if I can improve on the results. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
  6. Great looking razor. Congrats.

  7. My shaves are coming along well. I am following the grain on all areas of my face with the exception of the jaw line, where I just shave straight down... My only problem is, I never seem to get a decent shave there!

Is there anything I can do? Here's my beard map:

  8. Careful. If she starts making sense it either means you need to be lobotomized........or already have been.
  9. I usually shave with the grain on the first pass, slowly and deliberately. Then I relather my neck and jaw area. I again shave WTG on my neck and XTG on my jaw (nose to ear). Then I stop. That’s less than a lot of guys here, but it works for me. My jaw area is much smoother with that extra XTG attention.
  10. Thanks Jim! :happy088:

  11. I do go ATG on my jawline, but usually go XTG both ways on my neck. Always WTG everywhere on the first pass. Lots of guys say that the jawline is an issue, you’re not way off there.
  12. An Envy 2 Band is an amazing knot Mark. What is the loft

  17. Glad to hear your wife is on the mend, Brian. I hope your schedule will allow you a little ‘settle in at home’ time coming up.
    Great looking lather as well!
Enjoy your family b-day today, Jim! Do you find AC blades just as sharp in a Hawk as they are in a Shavette?
    Very interesting and cool-looking razor.
I’m sure it is a matter of time until you get this one dialed in, Clint. Great photos in the meantime!

  20. Cool (the Brush, not the Maple Leafs;)). Is that the first time you have used your homemade knot, Patrick? Enough for a report yet? If I’ve missed a report on it already, I apologize.
