Those are great blades. I need to revisit. It's Ben a whike. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
Did that tonight. Took off the frustration a bit too. Made the shave go better . Thanks Listening to some Toots also helps .
Hello, new member here. I have been wetshaving for a few months. Accumulated four razors in that time, rotating between them all. I've been getting pretty inconsistent shaves as far as irritation. I won't be shaving everyday, my skin can't handle that. Probably every two to three days. I'm hoping for irritation free shaves. Cold water WTG, XTG ATT S1 Astra SP SOC boar B&M Soap Thayers Witch Hazel B&M Reserve AS That's my plan. Thanks Jim Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Welcome Jim @jluc! Have you read the first post in this particular discussion? If not, pay close attention to the idea of A Rule. 30 days of same soap, brush. razor, blade, and post shave products. It eliminates variables in hardware & software. The only remaining thing to then consider is your technique. Assuming your gear is of acceptable quality then the issues can be addressed as skills to be improved. Welcome to TSD, and the heart of the Shave School - The 30 Day Crew!
That's much more calming than the only other tune I know of by that band. Don't view "Come to Daddy" with young children or persons taking mood leveling meds in the room
Thanks for the welcome, glad to be here. Yes I have read the first post. I have hardware and software picked out to use exclusively through the month. Time to work on my technique. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Welcome to the Crew! That looks like a good set of gear for a Rule. As you work your way through the month, don’t hesitate to raise questions about any issue you're having -- everyone is happy to chip in with suggestions.
I'm guessing you've lurked TSD for a little while. I like to invite new shavers that make an introduction in The Welcome Center. You skipped the front door and landed right here. That very nearly qualifies as Shenanigans! Please do ask questions. About lather, brushes, how to hold a razor, etc. There are no stupid questions, Sir. The 30 Day Crew members that are veterans (of this group, because the military type are Veterans) have encountered most any issues you may be pondering. While many of us also post our shave reports in the Shave Of The Day, those tend to be truncated and brief - only listing our gear. Here we let out hair down and spill the beans. So please feel at home and don't mind the blood on steel.
Friday March 2 - first blood on the shavette Parker SRX / GSB (1) 30DC LE Maple Cashmere synthetic brush My Italian almond frankensoap Alum and Lucky Tiger and styptic pencil Did my first shave with the SRX tonight. (Had previously done one with the Magic). The 30DC LE did a great job of whipping up a lather and then face lathering. The Italian soap mixture was wonderful as always. And then things sort of went downhill from there. I did one WTG pass with the SRX. Really concentrated on skinstretching and just barely wiping off the lather with the blade. Cheeks went well, neck went well, upper lip went well, bobbled the chin a bit and ended up with three weepers. Overall result was a CCS closer to DFS with the alum quiet except on the weepers. They all bled through the rinse, alum, and rinse and needed the styptic pencil to shut them down. The Lucky Tiger provided a pleasant orange-scented finish to the shave. Although I may add some Nivea Sensitive Balm as well since my chin feels a bit raw now. Did I enjoy the shave? Not especially. Even when I was learning safety razors, I found the process soothing and meditative. So far at least, I can't say the same for shavette. I sort of figure that if men were meant to go through this nonsense, safety razors would never have been invented... I will stick with the shavette but am definitely in the agnostic camp where they are concerned.
When we went to Ikea over Thanksgiving, we bought me a cabinet for wall, I filled it up and started to fill up drawers in the cabinet, she laughed and said I'm the female in the relationship. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hell, that idea would scare me, and I'd be the one with straight. Also I'm Medical Technologist at the VA hospital, so I don't have desk in the traditional sense, I work in the laboratory, performing laboratory testing, but if things get too out of hand I might have to improvise. Sounds like a great plan Jim, I started traditional shaving about four months ago too, what a revelation. I also cold water shave and love B&M. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You do know that me and @wchnu are straight up ignorant rednecks? That was hard to read. We can barely read. But, still.
That group is mostly interesting to DJs and sound engineering types. Cool you know them. "4" is in the soundtrack for my life.
Great list! You have tonnes of super razors there, Perry! I also love my ‘66’ and find my E3 quite similar to it. If you find one in the wild at a good price, I’d grab it, even with your collection. I1 is also high on my list as well. Have you tried the PAL Injectomatic? I find it way, way more aggressive than any of my 3 Schicks.
