  1. Welcome @jluc! Ask away with questions and enjoy the thread.

@NCoxSTL - I will echo the others and lament the disrespectful actions from your landlord. Sorry you're thrust into that position.
  2. So, we don't need to go to the mattresses with this guy? :)

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick I1 injector
    Brush: Restored Surrey badger
Lather: Jeeves of Hudson Street Turkish Bath
    Post: Witch hazel, Speick aftershave

Another great shave with the Turkish Bath, but that's all you'll see of it since I finished it off. @Drygulch - this amount of Jeeves combined with the previous sample of Wholly Kaw I finished was 20 shaves worth, so I'm thinking that was all at least an ounce. I'll submit to your judgment for a point or not in our ever-so-serious soap contest! ;)

Terrific results overall. I thoroughly enjoyed using the Jeeves on a daily basis. Great soap with lather and post-shave qualities similar to Stirling (which is high honor).

We are hosting a professional photo shoot at our house today. A family friend is a pro photographer and sets up a booth and people book it for 15 minute slots. You can have whatever type of pictures you want in that 15 minute window. We've done this several times now and we get a free package for hosting. In fact we've hosted four or five times in that past two years. Our best family pictures come out of these events. Anyway, it's generally fun and not much work to do on our end. I took my time with the shave so it'll look good in the photos.

    Have a great weekend!

  12. That is a pretty lousy way of doing something like that. Sounds like it will be better in the long run.

    March 3 SOTD:

    Razor: Classic Samurai

    Brush: Stirling Marble
    Lather: TSD Pumpkin Spice
    Aftershave: Avon Blue Blazer
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Unscented PSB

A slight change of plans this morning, as I took my girls (my son came along as well) to their school competition, so I was up at 4:00 for my shower and shave. Another one pass CCS, and I left it at that. I was too tired for much else. I'm in Houston now waiting for my oldest to finish her first competition in poetry interpretation (she must get that from her mother). I hope everyone has a great day!

    Feather
    Sterling Badger Brush
    Sterling Dunshire stuff

I did shave yesterday with the same set-up but with a GSB blade, no report for lack of time. Today, I went with a Feather to see how it handles in the WR1. There did not seem to much difference in the blades which was odd. I usually find GSBs to be much more forgiving...not quite as sharp. Most razors show a noticeable difference when using Feathers, especially milder razors. I'll give the Feather a few more shaves and pay attention to the perceived feel. The WRH1 handle has plenty of knurling and balances the razor almost dead center of the handle. It was my least favorite handle in photos because it has less flat polished areas but it is impressive in hand. I have no idea how James polishes the knurling but it sparkles. Overall a great CCS.

Welcome to the fold @jluc Pull up a chair and get comfy.

    Happy Saturday, men.

Up early today for a busy day. My wife and I are going to visit my Mom today. Much better shave than yesterday. Since my neck was still sore from yesterday, I went with a traditional 3 pass shave with no touch ups ending in a DFS. I followed that up with a splash of witch hazel with menthol and Fine Fresh Vetiver. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

  19. Rough shave today on my neck. Hadn't changed the blade in a while, so that didn’t help. Combine that with rushed execution, too high of an angle and chasing the baby on my neck and I took the train to weeperville. It’s been a while since I’ve visited, but if you want to join me, just follow the easy instructions above.
