    Razor: Simplex
    Blade: GSB
    Brush: 30DC LE/Pure Badger
    Soap: Williams
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

    Today's shave is with a NOS(?) Simplex razor as distributed by Mechanical Servants, Inc. This is a "vending machine" razor which came as part of a complete kit consisting of a Simplex Bakelite head, a stubby Tech handle, vintage Williams brushless cream, and an unmarked blade. There is another whole thread about these razor sets which likely date from the 1960s.

    For today's shave, I went with just the head and used the handle from my Sterling Tech. (This a modified handle in that it has been cut down by about 3/4ths of an inch and has a 10/32 set screw threaded into the end for extra weight.) I'll probably try to included blade at some point. I'm not sure about the Williams cream, though, and will wait for feedback from @wchnu or some other brave soul. I suspect that using the stubby handle could make for a focus all its own. (Well, MayHEM will be here soon enough.)

    The shave itself went very well. The razor, as has been pointed out, has a somewhat large gap but does not seem overly aggressive; I will say that there was a bit more blade feel than with my other Bakelite razors. No blood and no real feedback from the Alum. There's a spot or two that could stand to be a touch closer but that could be for a number of reasons including the blade, which already had a few shaves on it.

    BTW, anybody got a spare Bakelite DE handle? :)

  5. Bummer about the sudden need to relocate, Comrade. Hopefully, you and your Bride will find some even better digs...and a better landlord. :happy088:

    However, moves can be difficult as @mrchick can attest.

  10. Luxor 2 me 0 but it was at least a better match this time. A few small Nick's and some razor burn. It's really the chin and middle of the neck causing the issues. I'll either fix it or grow a goatee lol. I feel better about this shave then Thursdays that's for sure. I feel like I'll have it down pretty good by next Saturday.

  12. Text??? He made notification by text??? Un-freakin-believable!! What a moron! Well... all manner of descriptive adjectives are coming to mind but I’m trying to keep this family friendly. No doubt you’ll be better off but the guy is an inconsiderate backside of a four legged pack animal.
  13. You have an awesome collection! These would be great photos for the "The Medicine Cabinet" if you want to create a link to your shave den. Reference the link in my sig.
  14. Not sure where to find the link, sig?

  17. Welcome to Hoarders, Inc.
    Our current board of directors:
    @PickledNorthern VP of Brush division
    @mrchick VP of Straight Razor division
    @PLAla VP of Injector division
    @BaylorGator VP of Soap Tub division (many, many regional directors in this division)
    @Keithmax VP of Aftershave/EDT division (we think he is VP, but he won’t actually tell us how much product his division produces)
    @wchnu VP of vintage SE division
    @clint64 VP of modern SE division (this is heavily contested, and he may be ousted by a hostile takeover)
    Our last board position is VP of Vintage DE division. We have been unable to nail down who in fact holds this position, so we rotate it through the management team. @Norcalnewb assumed that board position last month.
    @Drygulch is also a senior consultant through his volume of participation in many divisions.
    @Screwtape and myself are just the humble Canadian branch managers.
    @Bama Samurai is our CFO due to his minimalist ways, @Linuxguile is in charge of acquisitions and @wristwatchb is our official record keeper/scrap booker.
    I’ve probably forgotten some of the executive, but the CEO (and VP of blade division) of our little company, @NCoxSTL is moving anyway, so we’ll have an imminent restructuring.
  18. Happy Birthday Adam @Drygulch! I hope you have a fantastic day, my friend. :D
