    Good advice, I plan I using it on a setting for a week. However, on another forum some one suggested dialing down the adjustable for the neck to help decrease redness and bumps.

    I've gone back to this after getting carried away the other day... The last 2 days have been 2 passes WTG, today I have just done 3x WTG... ZERO irritation (alum was totally silent)... Man this is the best my face has felt since I started this journey! I know that the shave is not all that 'close' but it looks clean, even with my short beard!

    I think that this 3xWTG lark is going to be the way for me for the next few weeks of this focus.

    I was really glad to find TSD. I felt there were sound basics for a good foundation practiced here. I did an experiment today. Cranked the Parker Variant down to 1 and did a full 1 pass shave ATG with a low mileage Feather. May not be something to keep on with, but 'no shame' and 'no pain' result. I believe things I learned in my 30 day contributed much to my abilities. Doing that would have ripped me earlier.

    +1. This is very solid advice.

    The purpose of a rule or focus is to eliminate variables in order to allow you to dial in technique more quickly and easily. By changing that dial on the Slim, you are, in effect changing out to a different razor every time you adjust it and consequently making the learning much more difficult for yourself. If you “set it and forget it” now, you will thank me later. For your first rule/focus a 3 or 4 is probably where I’d recommend.

    When I HAD to shave everyday, I hated it. An electric was all I could tolerate, and my neck always bothered me. For many years I'd shave once a week or less. Now I shave everyday because I like it. So, you are not crazy in my book.
