In my hunt for birth year razors, I found out that the Micromatic Flying Wing was introduced in 1947. It is the one with the Guiding Eye machined on the cap. I found one on the Bay for a good price. I am planning on using the Flying Wing next week.

When it arrived today, I didn't bother with pictures. It went straight to the Dawn soak and then toothbrush scrub. Here are pictures after the clean up. There is a little plating loss on the bullet tip, but it is in otherwise very good shape.

Here it is next to my silver tone bullet tip. It has not guiding eye and evidently is 48-49.

Next I decided to compare my four Micromatics on my kitchen scale.

Guiding eye? Are you supposed to feel that dimple and, thus, the correct angle?

Great job on the cleanup, BTW.

Nice! I didn’t realize the guiding eye weighed that much. It is a fantastic razor.

No, you can hardly feel it if you run your finger over it. The instructions said to "Hold Guiding Eye flat against face."
