  1. The wind here is wicked and driving the snow with it . Power is on now again and we are warm . I wish we had generators , but we are locked into the grid. We are at the power company's mercy lol

  2. I know your right, but that angle thing is difficult to figure out. It feels like with EJ81 the angle is much easier to find, than on the slim failed up. And the pressure and angle are both difficult to maintain when fighting gravity.

Couldn't resist using the Fatip a few days before boxing it up. And if you're going to use an aggressive razor you just need to man up and load a Feather in it. Add Oleo Soapworks El Caballero with the Wolf Whiskers Silvertip and you have a marvelous shave.

Alum was a bit warm from the aggressive combo but the baby is asleep and all is well. Good and productive day today as we nailed down a new place. Going to check out two more tomorrow just to finish the hunt before putting the money on the barrel head. Enjoy your Friday tomorrow!

  4. That's the fun of learning through a rule or focus. And once you get it down it just makes you feel so smart!

  5. Hope it all works out for you guys . It's a stressful time when you're house hunting as I did the same a year ago. Either they wouldn't accept children or dogs and I have both. Luckily I found an old farmhouse and my daughter and the dog love it here. The landlord even hired me to work for him . Hope your luck is as good . Youre a brave man with that combo today btw ..fat tip and feather . Brrrr
  6. Just let the weight of the razor do the work and focus more on riding the cap. It will all come in time , trust me . Before you know it you won't be thinking of all these variables and just enjoying your shave . I'm a graduate of the 30 day rule .
  7. Who is now teaching! Congrats. You're official now.
  8. Take a trip in the Way Back Machine?

I had plateaued with my Fat Boy on setting five. Since I was getting good reduction there was no need in tempting the fates or poking the Shave Gods. Must have been about then that I joined the 30 DC. With a little goading and cheerleading The Fat boy was soon on seven, then nine. About the same time back in ancient history the Enablers suggested trying a Fatip."Yea it's aggressive, but you can figure it out. It's just a razor." I keep styptic and alum block around anyways. Blood on Steel happens. Wounds heal and a couple days later you'll shave again. Next thing you know all razor and blade combos start to act similar. A Blackland Blackbird is a weapon of beard destruction, but after 4 or 6 shaves I had the angle figured out and quit nicking myself.
I feel pretty smart using my well known razors. Next new razor is less of a hill to climb. The tools may change, but the Technique stays the same.
  9. You simply have not done this long enough to attain technique mastery. Results will come, just focus on the fundamentals the guys are mentioning.
  10. Look at that!! And spot on.
  11. Thanks Chris. That tip really worked for me when I was getting started .

  13. Funny what happens when you learn to relax and not fight the razor . You learn to shave .

  15. Yes, one person called in sick that morning and was out for three days. The other went home sick just before the meeting. On the bright side, I got to visit with some friends and family.
It was a 1400 mile week. I started today with 12 shots of espresso on ice and dead-headed home.
