Sorry I've been a bit tied up lately. I've been trying to read a bit here and there, and wish I had more time to join the shenanigans. Back to the shaves.... sticking to the rule. This AS is now a fave. Don't know why, just like it. Good skin feel. Barbasol and Sharp Star are taking care of business.

The rest of this month is going to be a lot of travel for me, leaving tomorrow for a week. So the next time I pop up it will be somewhere radically different than the prairie. Mental health change of weather coming up! And, per usual, you never actually know what an intrernational Russian blade cartel is liable to pull off next. Act like y'all don't know. Stay tuned for updates. If anybody needs to contact me, just PM or tag. I will try to check in daily for a few minutes every evening.

Listen to this whole album before you die:

Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a chill Tuesday!

Was commenting on the linked article. Just meant that article compared MdC to Williams, and that the tester tried to remove scent from the equation. I was just stating that scent matters in a soap, and cannot be removed from the comparison. That’s all.
I made the comment, then, that we’d all have only one or two soaps if scent, in general, didn’t matter at all as it didn’t in the comparison.

Safe travels! Will be interested to find out where you end up at from time to time. Of course, the Cartel will have its informants on the job.

I think it all comes down to personal preference, hence the marketing adds to the mix. Look at how Gillette marketing took people from what we are trying to revive ( de , se razors) to what most people shave with today. Its quite crazy how something so simple as shaving can be so complicated. Not sure but maybe he tried to remove scent to make the comparison fair . E.g. latherability, slickness, the basic stuff needed to shave I'm guessing. When I see high end soap collections being sold I always wonder if they didn' t like the scent or performance.

Sounds like a bad blade to me. Did you maybe accidentally drop a mattress on it during your move?

    Shave #11 of the rule:

    Slim (4)
    Rapira Swedish Supersteel
    Yaqi Slivertip
    Proraso Red Preshave
    Tabac Shave Soap
    Speick After Shave Splash
    Nivea Sensitive Cooling PS Balm

I feel like I've finely figured how to get a great shave with Slim. Only a whimper out of the alum, not an inch of redness, heat or irritation to speak of, just a very nice DFS+. I still plan on trying those other blades, which gave me problems when I'm done with my rule, but I wouldn't be bit disappointed if the only blade I could ever use was a Rapira Swedish Supersteel, such a wonderful balance of sharp and smooth.
I would like to just take a moment and thank you guys for doing 30 day rule/focus program. It has been such a huge help to me. Going forward whenever I here about someone struggling figuring this shave thing out I'm going to send them here. I had been wet shaving for almost four months, before I meet you guys, and in almost two weeks here, I have come so far, and have learned so much. Everyday I look forward to checking in on the goes on around, I finally feel like I'm part of real online community and it feels great. So thanks for having me, and teaching me, and befriending me.

Congratulations on your very rapid progress, Scott. And thank you for joining us here -- like any online community, this one either grows and flourishes or withers away and dies. If guys like you and Patrick @9nein9 didn't come join us, we would all soon be in trouble.

Tuesday morning March 13 - new week, new sample

Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Lord Super Chrome (2)
Semogue Owners Club cherrywood Tuxedo brush
    The Dry Dock shave bowl
    Trumper's Sandalwood shave cream (sample)
Alum and TSD Milk Aftershave Sandalwood

I enjoyed an absolutely splendid shave today. A healthy dollop of the Trumper shaving cream whipped up in no time into a perfect stiff meringue of lather, which then spread easily on my face and maintained its properties throughout my shave. The sandalwood scent of this one is a pure sandalwood with no other scents added to the mix. And while the Salter cream I used last week was very good, I think this one is better in its overall performance.

I have absolutely no complaints about this brand of Lord blade on its second outing. Much better than the Super Stainless I tried first. At least in the Rockwell razor, I could shave regularly with the Lord Super Chrome if I had to. I think I will shift it to the Gillette Fatboy tomorrow and see how it compares there.

In the meantime, I am clean, smooth and refreshed and ready to face the day...

    March 13 SOTD:

    Razor: CJB Pain Stick
    Blade: Feather AC Professional
    Brush: Elite Razor Manchurian White
    Lather: Stirling San Antonio
    Aftershave: Aqua Velva Ice Blue
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Unscented PSB

@wristwatchb sent me a few blades to try in the Pain Stick, so I gave this one a go today. Very nice, smooth shave. It does feel sharper than the Titan Mild blades I have been using. I also got another new brush, this one in Badger. It did a great job of whipping up the San Antonio and felt very good on the face. It has plenty of backbone with nice soft tips. My Tuesday is off and running. I hope everyone has a great day!

    SOTD March 13, 2018

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Personna
    Razor: Schick G5 injector
    Brush: JR #60 synthetic
Lather: Country Club for Men Cahaba Blues
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave

Easy shave today. New-to-me Schick G5 worked quite well. The lather from Cahaba Blues was tremendous as usual, and a Fine American Blend finish is always nice. Not much more to report.

We are leaving tonight for a big trip to Disney World! The band is traveling and will perform on Thursday in the Magic Kingdom. I will be swamped with responsibilities and won't be able to post much. I'll be back late this weekend, but will be around most of the day today.

    Have a great day!
