  1. I've slacked off on using Alum during these lower humidity months. Sometimes I get a prickly feeling on application. Are you rubbing it on, waiting, and rinsing off?

  2. Have a great time, Perry!
  3. Thank you, Jason. No more brushes for a while. I have picked up more brushes in the past 6 months than I have in the several years
  4. Went for day 2 with my Stirling Frankensoap (Pharaoh's Chilly Orange Creamsicle) loaded up in the shave stick. I don't know that I'm totally a shave stick guy, but it sure was nice to shave with Stirling two days in a row. Between all these soap reviews I'd really forgotten how much I love Rod's soap! Good stuff.
  5. Sounds like a winning combo, Randy!
  6. I'm an early riser.... I think it was the Wild Turkey Rye last night.... :)
  7. Yes. Rubbing it on wetted with cold water, clean up the sink, then rinse off and patted dry. Just don’t enjoy the tight feeling.
  8. You're a young man, Jason. When you get over the hill like me, that tight skin can feel youthful!

  9. It has been a long time since someone called me young, Rick!
  10. Thank you, gentlemen. I actually found it a very useful exercise for myself reviewing them all.
  11. I never bought any Trumper soap for precisely that reason -- I read the reviews in a couple places, including on the Fendrihan website, and the soaps rather got sneered at compared to the creams. Mind you, I never bought any full tubs of Trumper creams either (or Salter for that matter), because I bought a tub of TOBS first and liked it so much I basically went just with TOBS for English creams. Having tried samples of the other two now, I think Trumper cream is on a par with TOBS for performance and Salter is maybe just a touch behind the other two. They all have lots of scents and I suspect most guys could find something they liked in any of the lines. If I needed a new cream, I would probably look at Trumper, but I won't be buying any Trumper or Salter cream in the near future simply because I have such a massive inventory already it would be a stupid thing to do -- especially since creams don't last in as good shape for as many years as soaps will...

    Shave of 8 of 30

So it has been a few days, missed a few shaves. Tonight was able to return to the shavette with a fresh blade. It was a 2+ pass shave going for the "looks clean shaven." The chin is still the hardest part for me. Did bite me once when trying to take of a trouble spot, otherwise no nicks or cuts that I could see. Something I've noticed with this particular shavette is the tail doesn't feel quite right in certain grips, like it isn't big enough. I notice this most often when have it flipped around for an ATG pass. Alum was fairly quiet except for the neck and jawline, which are generally the areas I have to "dig in and go at". Don't really know what else to say.
  13. Don't forget your evening shoes.

Good evening all! I hope everyone is well. Wonderful shave this evening! Three pass with touch up, DFS. Alum did nothing except for a small area at my adams apple. Everything came together on this shave. Beautiful slick lather, lite touch and shallow angle. I'm getting better at maintaining the proper angle on my neck. This focus and encouragement from all of you has done wonders for my shaves. Thanks all![IMG]

  18. Thanks! Phone camera but I had better light coming through the window. I'm having to get more creative taking pics of the same stuff. :)
