Well, I feel a bit better-I don't yell now when I arise from lying down. That's a positive sign! I skipped the gym again today, but I'd like to see if I can go Monday. Course I'll take it easy.
As per your Randy comment-, wasn't it Jim(oh al right, James) Taylor who sang "Whenever I see your cryin face, I have to cry myself".
March Madness Shavette Seminar UMBC Beast mode 74-54 Edition From yesterday afternoon, on the rule. I think yesterday was Friday! I am still relaxing and having a great break from life on the prairie. @NCoxSTL - if it weren't for these absolute BS ancient blades...I'd be happier. @Keithmax - When staying in Chacarita or El Roble CR, I strongly recommend the Russian Spa herbal treatment at the Doubletree. Kattia or Hillary will be happy to apply hot stones and beat you with birch branches, followed by a eucalyptus deep tissue therapeutic massage. I feel somewhere in between car wreck survivor and denizen of the state of Nirvana. But anyway, had a nice two pass shave before the Russian beat down and recovery period. I have not yet decided on AS, but will post something later, so it's a bonus double Samurai babbling kinda day. Other than that...it's always quiet in Puntarenas Province. Have a great Saturday!
After all of the feedback, I went and ordered the Ming Shi 2000s... Excited now! Even on setting 1 it will be much more aggressive than my Merkur 34c!
March 16, 2017 Shave 9 of 30 Falling further and further behind... So I was getting over a virus, plus the cut I gave myself the last shave was pretty wicked upon further examination, so I gave myself a break. So writing this today, but shaved yesterday (as the date says). Since it is the weekend, I did a one pass shave. Well, I say one pass and most of the face was one pass except for the chin. That was like an umpteen pass. Going for clean shaven, but when you see that dark patch just have to work at it. Surprisingly I didn't nick myself at all. Well, it looked like there was a drop of blood in the soap after a pass, but I couldn't see where it came from. Results were passable, but nothing to brag about. No alum test, just some witch hazel followed by TSD's Energy aftershave milk. My daily shaving requirement no longer exists, so I think I'm going to start shaving every other day. I prefer working with two days growth. And I think I'm going to stick with the shavette into April, maybe even work on my weak hand shaving to get the left side of my face a bit easier.
I will be happy to accept returns on those blades. From anyone. I'd hate to be responsible for ruining your vacationd.
Micromatic Day 115 Gem ClogPruf Gem PTFE Semogue BC Texugo Stirling Electric Sheep Alum Superior 70 Busy yard maintenance day, just got to shave tonight. The hot shower was the real star, but the shave was nice too. Enjoy your evening.
March Madness Shavette Seminar Late Afternoon Menthol Refresher Edition Just finished a most excellent two-pass! BBS....Really loving Proraso, it's my fave recent acquisition. Surely when I run out of Sharp Star, the shaves will improve. Dinner in a half hour...I will check in later. Hope everyone has had a nice St Patrick's Day. Enjoy your B-ball! Other than that...it's always quiet in Puntarenas. Have a Super Sunday!
March 17th Cooper MonoBilt w Polsilver (4) TGN Synthetic/ Mahogany Stirling Coniferous Alum TFS Mastro Miche AS One more day with the MonoBilt before I go back to my NEW focus. Lazy afternoon shave today, as I have nothing planned besides a basketball game or two. Had a pleasant 2 pass shave with the woodshop-like Coniferous. It is just like being in the lathe room. Have a great evening all, and for those of you celebrating St. Patrick’s day, have fun and be safe!
SOTD 3.17.2018 Head Shave (7 days) & Face Shave (24 hours) Pre-shave: hot shower Brush: Barburys synthetic Cream: Godrej Shaving Cream Razor: Gillette Tech Blade: Best Choice (Made in Vietnam) DE (1) Post-shave: Assured WH, Gillette AS Gel, Gillette Cool Wave AS Background: 1976 E.L.O. LP album "A New World Record" I only planned to do a head shave today since I was beginning to feel like I was on the verge of becoming a hippy. But after the shower I noticed the whiskers on the cheeks and chose to face shave too. I plan to face shave again on Monday and then begin the focus on the CJB pain stick then. The last 2 shaves I used a Derby blade which wasn't impressing so I went with a generic, store-brand DE blade packaged under the name "Best Choice." We have a neighborhood market nearby which sells a lot of generic products under the name Best Choice. They now carry a DE blade as Best Choice, Made in Vietnam, which I'm sure is the same Dorco made blade sold by Dollar General and Family Dollar. This same neighborhood store also sells the Chinese made Schick injector blades. The blade performed extremely well! Overall, my head and face shaves were CCS with a minimal of clean-up. I hope everyone is having a terrific weekend!
Sunday frustration shave Decided to break from my focus on killing my tub of Castle Forbes and puck of Tabac and choose the Chiseled Face Zoologist Civet. The soaps smells just like the EdP, fantastic but as I started the shave I remembered why I do not use it very often, the lather is so-so at best. No matter what I tried, more product, more water, beating it like a rented mule the lather was airy, disappearing, drying... it just sucked. Since it was Sunday I choose my big smiling western grind Silverloaf kami, this razor needs some good slick lather. Due to the lather failure I had to back off and not go for it like usual. Despite it's fantastic scent it is going to the back closet where it can meditate on why it was placed there. Irritation A Closeness B+ Smoothness A Sharpness A Razor: Silverloaf Strop: Mastro Livi Brush: Simpson Polo 12 Pre: Nivea Soap: Chiseled Face AS: Enhanced Alt Insbruck, Speick ASB Scent: Zoologist Civet
I have always thought the same about Chiseled Face soaps. I love the scents so much, and I want so badly for them to be a favorite, but the lather just doesn’t do it for me.
