I think I just figured out what makes my brushes turn into upside down umbrellas at times.....too much "plunging" into the soap.
March 25 Cold water WTG, XTG ATT S1 Feather New Hi Stainless SOC boar B&M Soap Thayers Witch Hazel B&M Reserve AS Good morning! Wonderful shave today! I find my definition of wonderful is an evolution when it comes to shaving. I have had shaves this close before and I have had shaves close to this comfortable but not together. The alum tickled a bit on my neck which surprised me, I thought it would be totally silent. Maybe next time. If the razor wasn't making noise where my whiskers aren't as coarse I wouldn't have known it was cutting. On my chin and jaw where my whiskers are very coarse the razor mowed right through without slowing down. Very happy with today's shave! Have a great Sunday fellas! Weekend Travel Shaves ‘51 Gillette Tech w Nacet Palmolive Shave Sick Omega travel boar Stirling Menthol Balm Captain’s Choice Bay Rum & North Splashes Hotel shaves this weekend. Hadn’t used this Tech in months; it makes for an easy shave. First use of these AS samples. Didn’t enjoy the CC North yesterday, the Bay Rum was ok today. Have a great afternoon all!
I’ve managed to play catch up once again! It ain’t easy keepin’ up with you folks! Keep up the awesome work, guys! I’ve made my way through all the wonderful photos and shave reports - and enjoy every one of them. Still cruising along with my focus for the month…. Yeah, I’m rather surprised myself! Alrighty…I’ve finished off the week (yesterday) with Tabac, and now I’m on to Williams for one week. Still narrowing down my deserted island soap - between the classic lineup of Arko, MWF, Tabac, and Williams. Arko is already out. Again, it’s only because of the post-shave feel. It’s not because it isn’t a great soap. The three other contenders remain, and I won’t make the final decision until the end of my week with Williams. I had been using the Commodore X3 brush for the first two soaps, then a few days with it when I moved on to Tabac. I did break down and switch up the brushes. I did a few days with the Duke 3, and then moved onto the Thater. Any one of these can whip up a wonderful lather without hesitation. A cat’s tail could whip up a lather with Tabac. It lathers so easily. So long as you give it enough water, it’ll always perform flawlessly. The shaves this month have been very enjoyable. A few weepers here and there, but nothing to complain about. It’s certainly user error when it does happen. And, it’s normally due to laziness and greed. Today I switched to Williams, loaded up a fresh Astra and went to work. Anyone who says you can’t use Williams without using a boar brush - phooey! The Thater works incredibly well with it. Nice, drama free, three-pass shave (plus the back of my neck), a splash of Clubman….and I’m good to go. The usual “slickness without the thickness” Williams lather provides a nice easy shave. And, it’ll help keep mosquitoes at bay. This photo was from two days ago, but I didn’t have time to post. For today’s shave, just imagine a Longaberger mug (filled with Williams) where the jar of Tabac is. That’s the only change. Have a wonderful Sunday fellas!! Hope everyone is having a good weekend! I bought an MMOC. I haven’t been a huge Gem style SE fan in the past. But I have never tried am MMOC, so I thought I would go for it. One of the cool things about the Gems is that they are super cheap.
