I ended up just retouching mine as needed around the rim of the flare, where it wears first. Stripping it right would require sanding the plating and priming the knob before recoating, and I don't want to mess with that.
SOTD 3.26.2018 Brush: Barburys synthetic Cream: C.O. Bigelow Shave Cream Razor: CJB pain stick & PAL adjustable Injector Blade: Feather Professional (4) & Schick Injector (?) Post-shave: T.N. Dickinson's WH, Nivea Men Sensitive Cooling PS Balm, Skin Bracer AS I went back to using the pain stick today for my three days worth of stubble on my face. No cuts today, but as soon as I started shaving I felt a lot of tugging, pulling, and lack of clean cutting. It was like mowing the grass with blades which badly need to be sharpened. I tried a single pass with the CJB and didn't get very good results. Instead of putting in a new blade, I just grabbed the PAL razor which was nearby and finished up with it. I'll try the CJB again on Wednesday with a fresh blade. Have a great week everyone!
No, these were Gem SS blades from Try A Blade. This isn’t my first go around with this type of razor, I am probably just in need of a focus if I really want to make it right. And I stand by my opinion (subjective) that these blades are not as sharp/smooth/thin/comfortable/not crappy as the DEs and Feather SE’s I tend to choose.
Yes I think he would too...and he would have gotten a kick out of me learning the shavette too. Way back in the day he used the straight . I used to stare in amazement at how he handled that thing without incident. Then came the good part ..a splash of old spice or aqua blue....some for him and some for me . I have no sons to pass this onto but when some fella asks to marry one of my daughter's, first questions I'll ask are 1) type of razor 2) foam or puck 3) brand of aftershave That should weed them out ! Have a great night.
-Alumigoose V1 -Chubby 2 Best -Stirling Electric Sheep So I have sort of been bouncing around all month, kind of focus-less. Been on the road a lot, and busier than I could ever want to be on weekends.... Suddenly I realized that I have been spinning my wheel of safety razors again and again, and really enjoying myself. So I guess March is Safety Razor Month.
Wise choice on giving the pain stick a try on another day with a fresh blade. Great photo as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Even though I like using Gem blades, I agree with you. I don’t think they are as sharp or smooth as Feather SE blades. Wonderful lineup and photo Jared. Now that is one aggressive razor especially with a Super Pro blade. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
March 26 Cold water WTG, XTG ATT S1 Feather New Hi Stainless (2) SOC boar B&M Soap Thayers Witch Hazel B&M Reserve AS Good evening gentlemen. More great shave reports and awesome pics! Another nice shave this evening. BBS face and near BBS neck. The alum was silent on my face and just a bit more of a tickle on my neck than my last shave. I did spend more time on my neck so that wasn't surprising. The feather blade shows no signs of degradation on its second use. The S1 just glides across my face with that blade. I only have one more of the feathers on hand but on Wednesday I'll have 101. Thanks Amazon. I think I'll start next month's focus with the feathers and do the last few shaves with something from my sample pack. Good evening and good shaves everyone! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Thanks Clint, in more ways than one. (Clint sold me the razor..) The v1 Alumigoose is probably the closest thing to a blade clamped in a Vise-Grip I have ever used. I really, really like that razor. When I am alert.
