Wow, is the scent really so strong that it stays on your face after you rinse off the soap? I wonder if the Derby soap will be so strongly scented?
Thank you Perry and and Andrew. Maya and I have had a great day. We got here early enough to spend sometime walking around campus this afternoon. We have meetings with a couple of professors tomorrow morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you Jason. I think the good citizens of Kentucky and Arizona are safe from me running around taking SOTD photos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I too dislike the Rubies, and think Sputniks are on a level by themselves between Rubies at the bottom and the rest of the Moscow offerings which are top tier. I haven't found a St. Petersburg blade that I didn't like, but I've really been impressed lately with the Nacets. Normally I'll chuck a blade after 3 shaves, but I just did a 4th on a Nacet with no signs of tugging and BBS results with 2 passes and touch up.
In my experience, after a cold water rinse, then unscented witch hazel and then an aftershave, I do not detect the distinctive Arko scent on my face any more. As others have mentioned, it is certainly a polarizing scent. Those that describe it as 'like Ivory soap' are not wrong- there are some similarities there. Those that describe it as 'like a urinal puck' are not wrong, either- there are some similarities there.
Nacet is definitely a sleeper blade. But like I've said before - the picture of the blade slicing through the crocodile should be a clue!
I thought I remembered you were the one. Trust me, if I ever get any in a blade buy you'll have a package on the way!
‘Tis a sleeper no more...after IB had them on sale for about 9 USD a 100 last year, I picked up a couple hundred. Neal, Do you think there is any chance Gillette has any ownership in Rapira or the Moscow production at all? They usually don’t like competition very much...
I thought you are HST! Maybe you are DB who is HST who is Chris??? The. Correct response in Korea is; your honor, it was a difficult time so I was very drunk and don’t remember. Then the judge will reply, I and the others in the courtroom, feel you and understand, hell I don’t remember what happened last night either. Your free to go.
To the best of my knowledge Gillette and Mostochlegmash are not connected in anyway. Mostochlegmash was founded in 1903 so has been in business since before the revolution and continues after the fall of communism. Well, the first round anyway. Their main business is sewing needles and other such things. Blades are just a part o the overall company. They do also make razors, including some carts and disposables. Good luck finding any to buy. I haven't had any luck yet. I would like to see what the quality is on them. While Gillette hates competition (they proved that with the patent games through the past century or so) I don't think they really see the Rapira brand as a threat. I'm pretty sure they outsell the boys from Moscow based on name alone. Also, since they don't care about needles and such, Gillette probably doesn't want anything to do with them. Of course, we also have to remember Gillette is just a subsidiary of P&G now, so the decisions on mergers would be above Gillette's pay grade at this point in time.
