When I was Logan's age, I was wearing a "Harvard Law School" sweatshirt!(My dad was a Professor there). What is it with you dads....ya want to make us kids look distinguished already!!!
April 6th Cold water WTG/XTG Timeless Bronze SB Feather HS (5) Semogue Owners Club Badger Stirling Soap Stirling AS Thayers Good morning gentlemen. Great photos and shave reports this morning! Two pass shave this morning to DFS. Slight tickle from the alum. Stirling Executive Man was the selected soap. Performed as expected, great! Scent wise, this one wasn't a winner for me. Nice but not a reorder. One use though so it may grow on me. I hope everyone has a good Friday and a great weekend! I'm off to bed. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Great shot Jim! It will definitely grow on you! I find the scent a little on the light side with the soap, but the AS should bring the whole profile in for you!
The cherry blossom trees are ornamental, no fruit. Kouros has just a hint of clove hiding in the background, it doesn’t jump out at y0u. It is a monster of projection and last for about a week. Very polarizing scent but I like it. TGIF!!!
April 6th Gillette SA-84 w 7 O'clock SP (2) Arko Omega '49/ Walnut Thayers Florida Water Shaved early this morning, but haven't had a chance to post until now. 5th straight day with the Arko/Adjustable combo. Took the Arko back to the bowl today, and 'enhanced' it with a few squirts of Florida Water. Still smelled like Arko to be honest. Got a nice-looking lather, but I think I prefer to face lather it. I think there is a little more residual slickness when the stick is rubbed into the beard with this product. I don't find that with some other sticks that I have, but do with this. Went with another 2 pass shave, and did nick myself pretty good on the adam's apple. Needed the styptic for it actually. Still a good shave, though. One more day with Arko will be enough for a bit I think. Have a great day all!
Great stuff, Jason. The first Arko stick I had ended up in a mug. I cut the stick into slices and pressed down into the mug. But face lathering always seem to be better with it, as you mention. Regardless, bravo for sticking to it for several days.
Great looking razor! Love the different handles on some of those Ls. The stick shift is a cool one as well. Cool photo, Rick! I love the Gentleman, but must admit that it took me a bit to really love it. When I first opened the box, it was all I could smell, even though there were other strongly scented soaps in the package. I had never smelled anything like it at the time. I grew to love it, SWMBO, as many of you know, did not. I knew you'd get that MMOC dialed in quickly, Jim. Congrats on finishing off yet another soap! Interesting comments on the different blades in the OneBlade. Would you say the work is worth it? Enjoy your visits today, Clint! After March Madness, I suggest not wearing a Kansas State hoodie to the interviews... Awesome Friday line up, Perry! The B1 is just a cool looking razor. The Stirling Balms are top tier products, imho. Yup, now it's Friday again. Awesome pic of Logan! Really nice B&W!
It got to be too much for Mrs. Gulch in my house. I have started thinning the razor herd down. Of course, I have been trading most of them for knives, and am up to around 35 folders and 12 belt knives. Same fun stuff as razors, bring old stuff back from the dead, use it as intended, and send it on for another 100 years of service. I'm just not good at the last part.
My 1912 arrived today. Just shaved with it... Face now looks like a butcher's apron! This thing is NOTHING like my 34c... It's going to be a whole new learning curve. To be fair, the WTG pass went ok. It just all went a bit south going XTG. I'll be sticking with the 2x WTG passes for the next couple of weeks whilst I nail down the angle and pressure (or lack thereof).
I find they almost need to be flat against the skin to work really well. Once you get the angle down, they shave so smoothly.
What blade did you use in it ? And here is another tip, most Gem style razors were designed to be used with the cap flat on your face, or very near to it.
