Just FYI since we're on the topic of adding a theme for the "bargain shaver" - here are the current themes we cycle through each year month by month. Now, none of these are set in stone, yet we tend to go back through them over the past couple years. January - Anniversary month. We began "officially" on January 1, 2015. No other theme at the moment. February - Was Fatboy February. Changed it to February Favorites - pick your fave gear and show it off and use it. The change was due to Fatboy Friday becoming a thing. March - March Madness. This one is a mixed bag of possibilities. Trials, tournament theme, just randomly pick stuff....just try not to do March Moving Madness like I did. That sucks. April - Originally Arko April. Added Adjustable to the month since not everyone likes Arko. May - MAYhem. This is the month to throw caution to the wind. We've seen some seriously strange stunt shaving in this month. It's the month to get crazy. How much is up to you. June - Ummmm, nothing yet. July - Cinco de Julio is the 5th - popsicle stick razors. It's a one day event that is tons of fun. The month, however, has no theme. August - This was originally Adjustable August and we would add Arko in again. Kind of doubles April. We could do something different here at some point since April is strong. SEptember - Yep, Single Edge Razors. OCtober - You got it - open combs. NOVember - As an protest to "no-shave November" we offer No Variation November. Basically a Rule month. December - Decadent December. One of the best months. Use and enjoy your most decadent stuff. Make the Russians jealous with so much decadence. I'm liking some of the theme ideas for the budget shaves. Keep kicking those ideas around and we'll figure it out!
There are two versions of Florida Water, one is made in the US and the other in Peru (I think). They are the same company. I have tried both the one from Peru smells sweeter, I prefer the US version.
hello fello shavers.slight deviation from my focus set up.weds night. f-2 fatboy first use, nacet blade 4th use, ap shave shop tuxedo synth. cyril r salter indian sandal wood cream and fine santal absolute a/s . blade still working well, smooth and sharp. in the bin,not pushing it,new nacet next shave. comfortable 2 pass combo shave ,no drama, dfs i haven t shaved with a fatboy very often.just got this one and sold the g-2 months ago. i plan to stick with the flat bottom tech for the rest of the month with the nacet blades.derby/wilkinson stick soap for the most part, but may vary. the fatboy is a very cool razor and it will be used from time to time. nacet blades ; so far they are great.i normally use astra sp, gsb, voskhod and gillette platinums. gillette 7 oclock yellows and personna platinums tend to dull out really quickly for me and are not as smooth. but i am no expert.the nacets are a feel a little sharper and make the tech work very well.in the past my tech razors didnt feel as efficient as my rockets and aristocrats but in the end they are all similar and a joy to shave with. i may never zone in to one razor but so far the flat bottom tech with a heavy handle is a nice daily driver. have a great day, gary
No apologies required! I’m sure I could focus on my technique and that could be the reason for a bad review. I’m unsure what riding the cap means, but I do try not to use pressure. My next shave I will re-focus on my pressure and angle. Thanks for the recommendations! I will put that in my notes then. It sounds like I have some work to do with regards to my technique. Late to post here, but I am focusing on my Omega boar brush. I've used a Plissoft exclusively over the past year and thought I would revisit my first brush. I've not really used it much after the first year (2014) of my DE shaving habit. I must say that this inexpensive brush does a fine job and it eats soap for breakfast. Great to see you back! What's your take on the GSB blade? I used them for March madness in the shavette and really like them in my Rockwell also.
April 12, 2018 OneBlade Genesis V2 Feather FHS Shavemac D01 3 Band AOS Peppermint Cream A superb shave this morning that I will credit to the Feather blade. Unlike @PickledNorthern I like the Gem blades but do find them a step back from Artist Club or Feather SE blades in terms of sharpness and smoothness. With a much sharper blade I went with an ATG pass followed by a XTG passes. With minimal touch ups and buffing of my lower right neck, I caught the baby with ease. A splash of Fine Lavender and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday.
Micromatic day 141 Gem Micromatic Gem stainless Semogue BC Mistura Arko New blade and a nice slick lather made for a comfortable morning. Enjoy your day.
Thanks. What I'm using, besides the brush, is my Blackland Blackbird and Nacette blades. I'll change the soap as I use up what is in front of me at the moment. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
SOTD April 12, 2018 Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: Personna Razor: Schick B1 injector Brush: Stirling Kong synthetic Soap: Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Black Tea aftershave Nice shave this morning. Fourth consecutive shave with Jeeves Bay Rum without any boredom. What a terrific soap. Went with the Black Tea aftershave today to keep a Jeeves theme going. The B1 behaved quite well and it all came together nicely. The Fat will be on deck for tomorrow as usual. Have a great day!
I'm a fan they are very sharp though not as smooth as feathers to me. (Has anyone ever said something wasn't as smooth as feathers?) Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk
