  1. Frugal February. Hmmmmmmm. Decadent December is kind of a favorites month - so losing Februry Favorites wouldn't be a huge deal breaker. At least from my perspective. Definitely on the list of possibilities.

  3. Neal and I both feel like blades made in Russia are, all things considered, the best out there. It's kinda how we met and this thread started.

  4. I thought February was dedicated to Foci, as a 30 Day Rule (NOVember) is not possible.

  5. Except for @Keithmax. He can do a 30 Day Rule in 28 days. He's our numbers guy.

  6. Gotcha. I think I'm going to make June my blade sampling month. I'm sure I'll expand my horizons.

  9. Not sure if anyone has answered this yet or not, John. Didn’t look at the responses yet.
On my Canadian NEW LC, the logo is offset. On my US NEW SC, the logo is centred, as is the made in USA wording. The difference in comb length is noticeable, so if you don’t see a difference in comb length, they are probably the same. My two handles are close, but not exactly the same either.
I have two pics below, LC on the left in both:

    Hope this helps.

  10. Quick introduction to the Cartel's busines @jluc . Muscovite steel are the blades made in Moscow by Mostochlegmash. The finest DE blades ever made. Oh, some will say that the Gillette's made in St. Petersburg are equal or better but a true Cartel devotee will never accept that. (Ok, so yeah, they're awesome, but you didn't hear me say that) I prefer the Moscow blades. Here they are, in all their glory.
rapira-super-stainless.jpg The Rapira Super Stainless. Least expensive of the bunch but a very fine blade.
rapira-stainless.jpg The Rapira "Chrome". Similar to the SS above. I prefer the SS between these two, but it's nearly the same.
rapira-platinum-lux.jpg Rapira Platinum Lux - add platinum coating (and some Teflon) and you get a really fine, smooth, sharp platinum blade.
rapira-swedish-supersteel.jpg The Swedich Supersteel. Favorite of many on this board. Sharp and long lasting.
ladas-super-stainless.jpg The Ladas Super Stainless. Another favorite of a lot of people. Smooth and sharp. A sleeper if you will as many never try it since it lacks the Rapira name.
sharp-star.jpg Another sleeper, this blade was manufactured only in 2013 for a distributor in Asia. India, Turkey, that kind of area. Absolutely one of the finest blades ever made.
voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg The Voskhod. :smiley respect: Flagship blade for Mostochlegmash. Sharp. Tough, Long lasting. The very essence of Russian Steel. Teflon coated.

There is a way to try some or all of these at no cost to you. It requires a PM to me telling me which you'd like to try (or just say all if you'd like) and include your name and address and we'll get them on the way to you from Cartel HQ in the greater STL area. We like to call it Cartel HQ West.

  11. I loved Favourites February... Looking for alliteration? How about Junk (y?) (er?) June...

  13. Another great idea. We all know that "junk" doesn't mean junk, after all. It's just the cheap stuff that some people would turn their noses up at.

  14. Thanks Neil! Very generous offer! I may just take you up on a few of those. When I get home I'll need to look and see what's in my sample pack. Thanks again!

  15. I’d add to the St. Pete list:
    Nacet
The next 3 St Petes are great as well, but cost more for whatever reason-
    Polsilver
    PermaSharp
    Wizamet

  16. Nacet is the St. Pete version of the Ladas. Yes, another fine blade. The other three are very nice - pickups by Gillette when they bought them out. Permasharp is a blade I tend to use infrequently, but it deserves more time in a razor.

  17. Thank you Dan!

Neal, is Natalia doing deliveries? I might assume a lack of knowledge of fine Russian Steel in hopes of a visit from such a persuasive individual.
Careful @jluc, look out your peephole before you answer the delivery person's knock. Wouldn't hurt to have a bottle of Stolichnaya and some caviar ready.

I knew my wife was up to something. She had asked me for the logo from TSD. Being the always obedient, loving, kind, and attentive husband that has won the hearts of multiple wives (and lost most of them as well) I sent her a copy of it a few days ago. When I arrived home tonight I walked past the door to my shaver's paradise and did a double take. It now has a sign.

    My Door.JPG

Gotta love it! She's still looking for decorating ideas for the back wall in the room so we'll see how it eventually turns out. Oh, and she informed me she straightened out my blades hanging on the wall. When I looked she had balanced the cards by moving tucks around so they hang straight. A bit of OCD on her part perhaps, but a nice touch.

Speaking of nice touches, tonight's third shave on the Schick M was a very nice touch. Still wide open at setting "me" and it was effortless. Two passes, minor touch ups, baby in the house, nice after shave feel and all is well at HQ 2.0.

I have reached a day off tomorrow, my one for the week, so will be doing a lot of nothing. Probably a little R&R therapy. No big plans, just letting some stresses go and relaxing to enjoy the day. Hope your Friday is easy and a good lead in to the weekend!
