I would describe it has noticeable but mild. I think it’s the perfect strength. You can smell it, but it’s mild. And it won’t interfere with other post shave products. The Wilkinson is one of my favorite blades. It’s smooth and sharp. Of course, what’s true for me is not necessarily true for you.
April 14th Gillette Old Type w Wizamet (3) Fine L’Orange SS Omega ‘49/ Walnut Thayers Chatillon Lux Bon Vivant AS Nice lazy morning 3 pass’er earlier. Will be driving about 3 hours to a Lacrosse tournament in a bit. Happens to be my wife’s hometown we are going to, so the kids and I will be staying at my in-laws tonight. Alas, SWMBO won’t be with us at her folk’s place, as she is in Seattle for a few days with her Concert Band at a competition. Between our work travels and this sports trip, it has been a crazy week at Chateau Spartan. Have a great weekend all!
Sounds like a stellar shave. In fact, I think I'll take some inspiration and use my Glacial MITA and Avon Island Lime splash. I've had good experiences with the Wilkinson swords that I got in a PIF. I guess they didn't wow me enough to go out and purchase more, probably because they were on par with other blades I am already stocked up on. But I don't have anything bad to say about them either. The first time I saw MITA, I misread it, and thought it was "Margaritas in the Attic" Yeah, I had a messed up childhood. Hope you and the family are well in Japan!
SOTD April 14, 2018 Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: Personna Razor: Schick B1 injector Brush: Restored Surrey badger Soap: Stirling Piacenza Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Piacenza aftershave Terrific shave. I haven't had a focused focus this month other than a good many shaves with the B1 injector. I really enjoy it. My other razors are feeling neglected but they'll just have to wait a while. The B1 will get some more work. Nice heft and so smooth. Also, as a history buff, it's so cool to me to be using something that is almost 100 years old and still get such great results. Piacenza is an amazing scent. Top notch all around today. I'll be off in a little while to conduct two more runs of the musical today, a matinee and a night performance. Opening night went pretty well. It's a completely fluid situation when dealing with young performers. If I let up for even a few seconds in my concentration the rails can come off. It's a big physical and mental trial, but I'm enjoying it. Have a great weekend!
@wchnu sheds a tear everytime he's reminded that Ree Drummond is still married to that cowboy in Oklahoma.
A great reason to pick gear, John. I’ve done similar combos and my first thought is often ‘Why don’t I use this more?’. Enjoy the visit with your mom, Clint. Awesome photo this morning. At first glance I thought ‘Hey, my pic looks kind of like Clint’s this morning’ and then I looked closer and realized they aren’t in the same ballpark. Yours is crisp, professional and polished, while mine looks like a sleepy Canuck took one quick snap in bad lighting on a phone and got on with his day (yup). Love that ‘8 ball’ brush, Mark. Beautiful combo! Great photo, Randy. I have yet to use a Wilkinson, so I don’t have an opinion on the blades, other that they are the only DE blades available here in town and are ridiculously priced locally.
Glad to hear opening night went well, Perry. That is one stressor down, for sure. The great shave probably helps as well!
Thanks, Jason! It's been an interesting experience, but I'm really happy for the opportunity for the students. That's what it's all about.
April 14 SOTD: Razor: Gem MMOC Blade: Gem Stainless Brush: PAA The Green Ray Lather: Crown King Pareidolia Aftershave: Crown King Pareidolia Additional Care: Stirling Unscented PSB I am really behind on the thread. My wife and oldest daughter are at a mother daughter camp, so it is me and the younger kids this weekend. I'll be busy. I did get a good shave in with this new soap. Terrific woodsy scent with great performance. The brush is awesome as well. Very soft with decent backbone. One pass CCS this morning. I hope everyone has a great day.
Great shot as usual, Jim! I can't keep up with how many scents PAA has. Never tried their soap but it looks like you could order any scent you could think of!
+3 on Futur Clones! Good German design reproduce well by Chinese manufacturers. Make sure you get the cap on the right direction. Thank you Clint! Easy choices of well know gear.
Wow! I have been a very busy boy with no time to check in. I’m traveling home from Alabama today. Maybe I can catch up on the 1500 or so posts I have missed when I get home I hope all is well with you guys.
I’d like one please and if it’s required I’ll sit in the dark attic ); We are great here. People are extremely nice. Might not be able to understand them very well. But it’s the safest place I have ever lived. They have like zero crime here except for what Americans cause haha
Thanks, Perry! The Crown King base is pretty good, and you are right, there are tons of scents to choose from. This one has jumped to the top of the list for me. The AS are also pretty good performers, and the scent hangs around for a while.
