Micromatic Day 143 Gem ClogPruf Gem Stainless Semogue 2000 Stirling Electric Sheep Alum Superior 70 Soap Commander Love ASB It was a hot and busy Saturday here. Finally got to shave this evening. Took my time and enjoyed a nice comfortable shave.
SOTD 4.14.2018 Pre-shave: hot shower Brush: VDH boar Soap: Tabac Razor: Gillette Black Beauty (set to 9) Blade: Crystal (2) Post-shave: Dickinson's Enhanced WH, Neutrogena Men Sensitive Skin PS Balm, P&G Old Spice AS I really didn't need a shave today, but I was tired and worn out physically from shoveling snow. Just needed some relaxation. Stayed with the 1970 Gillette adjustable today. The Tabac lathered beautifully and after 2 passes I was clean shaven. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
@BaylorGator Must be different varieties then. The Wilkinson-Swords I like a lot are made in Germany.
Finally caught up on the 30 DC thread, gentlemen. Excellent shave reports and photos. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Sunday shave I just fell into a sub-focus, testing different pasted strops. Today's razor a big Silverloaf kami was stropped with CrOx and then FeO2. Wow, this edge was sharp, it is common belief that straights can't be as sharp as DE blades. I contend it is just the feel because DE blades are thin and have coatings. This is one of the edges I have used that I can definitely say is sharper than a Feather DE. I was hoping for an epic shave given the extra sharp edge but either I lost focus or was just too aggressive. I nick my earlobe and two small nicks on my mug. The alum also gave me some feedback. Arko Adjustable April!! April 14 Razor - Qshave (Futur Clone) (6) Blade - (2) Pre-Shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap Soap - Arko Brush - 30DC LE Post - Alum The Qshave is really quite a fun razor to use. At wide open setting it's easy to pop a great shave with minimal effort. Just remember minimal pressure and correct angle are absolute necessities. I used the 30DC brush to whip the Arko into fantastic mode and took two passes and just a bit of neck touchup to get to the baby. Two in a row on this beat. The main thing I don't like about this razor? It's zinc. I'd love to have one of these in brass or stainless. Can't blame a guy for dreaming, right?
I haven't used a MingShi. My first one of these was also the Qshave and I looked for a MingShi when I decided to replace it. The bay was loaded with Qshaves so I went with it again. From what I can tell from reading the reports of those who have used the Ming I'd say it's pretty much identical. It isn't out of the question that there is really only one in production, some of which are branded Qshave, some MingShi, but that's just speculation.
