    Supply Co V.2 matte black Single Edge / Personna ( 1 )
JR #267 birdseye maple and boar brush
Fendrihan Lavender and Sandalwood soap sample
    Alum and Osage Rub

The big boar brush did a good job face lathering the Fendrihan sample. Two quick passes to a cleanshaven me, then the Osage Rub chilled everything down.

Gotcha! So, I guess the real question is... How does the new one compare to the first one?

Well, with me you know about MEETER(it's how the soap would be pronounced in Massachusetts. The letter "R" is greatly misued here. I always laugh when I watch Sox games and they say the broadcast is brought to you by Amiker Insurance(Amica).

Probably for the first time ever, I used my Rise "Aftershave Cooling Balm" the way it was meant to be used....goes on the fingers first, THEN work it around the face and neck. It's in a tube(a glorified toothpaste tube), thus it's easy to have too much come out. It's nice stuff, I just wish there was more of the original Rise scent than exists now. Maybe with the new website, Rise can work on this :))).

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

This one appears to be the same quality as the first one. No difference that I can see in finish or anything else. The question will be if the internal mechanism breaks on this one like the last one.

Ever Ready 1912 (Made in England) - Day 9
    Blade - GEM Stainless (3)
    Brush - Bluebeards Doubloon
Lather - Palmolive Shave Stick (mashed into mug)
Post - Witch Hazel & Arko Natural Cream

Another 3 pass shave... I have concluded that at this point in my journey, a daily 3 pass shave is too much for my skin to handle. I will be sticking to 2 passes + touch up (only if absolutely necessary).

I do 2, and only because after the first there's still a lot of soap on the brush...would be unfair to waste it.

I can't believe how much soap the Palmolive provided! I mashed 2 sticks in a cup and loaded the brush for about 20 seconds... I've never seen so much lather!

I'm in the same boat. A daily 3 pass shave is too much. I normally go with just shy of two passes - WTG first, very deliberately and slowly, followed by a second pass on my neck, jaw line, and chin, mostly XTG. My upper face and upper lip normally just get the one pass. It's smooth enough and works for me.

I enjoyed sleeping in and numerous cups of coffee this morning. After the past week it was nice to just relax. The Blu was easy to lather and the scent added to the shave routine. A nice and easy three pass shave with touch ups just let the baby escape. Overall a first rate shave. I hope everyone has a great Sunday morning.

    Razor: Impoverished Patrician
    Blade: German Wilkie
    Brush: 30DC LE/Pure Badger
    Soap: Williams
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Second shave with the Impoverished Patrician, the distressed '48-'49 Aristrocrat that I recently purchased. As with the first shave, it was a bit aggressive with a lot of blade feel. Nothing that riding the cap didn't take care of and probably something that a lot of you would ldn't even think twice about, but a bit more than I like or would have expected as compared to, say, my Milord of the same era. I will say, though, that it was a close shave with no issues.

A question for the experts- How should a post-War Aristocrat feel compared with an equivalent year SuperSpeed?

This razor has definitely had a hard life and I suspect that both safety bars are a bit out of whack, not just the one which was obviously bent. During the second pass, I applied a bit of upward pressure with my thumbs to both safety bars and that seemed to smooth things out a bit. We'll see what it's like tomorrow.

I'm still dealing with the tarnish, especially in the knurling and the underside of the tray. At first, I thought that most of the gold wash was missing from the head, but it looks to be mostly intact but very thin. What I can see of the lacquer is also very dark and, I suspect, contributes to the overall issues with the finish. This is the only gold razor I've ever owned which didn't brighten right up with just a good wash and some buffing.

This is definitely one of those razors which really makes you wonder about its story. My Milord, for instance, was probably well-loved given the loss of gold on the doors and safety bars; at least right up until the moment it was put away with a layer of soap that was left to harden. The Patrician, though, was a more expensive razor in its day and actually seems to have less gold loss but is in much worse overall shape. One almost imagines someone getting it as a gift, being totally unhappy with it, throwning it agains the wall, and then leaving it to die under the bathroom sink.
