  1. I don't think there is any clove is TSD Bay Rum. At least JoAnna doesn't add any clove scent.

  5. Not sure where these were made, as these were singles that were given to me. Usually I don’t get too wrapped up in blades, as they all shave fine for me, but this one was definitely a bit rough. Maybe I got a dud. Who knows? I’ll have to try another at some point, but in the meantime, all this talk of Russian steel has me looking through my stash for a good commie blade for my next shave.

The Academy has established an award for the mild crowd, but let’s not go all milktoast here. Pushing the envelope actually gives folks confidence and improves overall, technique. Besides, it’s a lot more fun to watch.

Totally stoked! The Academy is working on the award prize thread as we speak!

This would be the one place where “pictures or it didn’t happen” motto would hopefully not apply.

  6. Yep. @Paul Turner there is no clove in the TSD Bay Rum. JoAnna @Queen of Blades let us know once a while back. She says its pure bay scent (can't recall the proper name) with no clove at all.

  7. I do indeed recall reading a post from her where she said that. TSD's Bay Rum certainly provides a smooth feel on my face and neck. Whatever "clovey sensation" I do get upon application does go away gradually-perhaps the same way I felt when the Stoylin Spice burn hit me real bad upon first use, now is less of a burn. Maybe, as I said, shaking it more prior to application will help. Or maybe that "West Indies" fragrance will come out more with further use. I'm happy to have her Bay Rum, though.

  9. I just commented to what @Norcalnewb said about this. I'll be glad to continue using it, given your posts(and what JoAnna said too, of course). Maybe I'll find with continued use that there's less clove than I thought=none.

  10. Ahh, that could be it...its strength.

  12. Ever Ready 1912 (Made in England) - Day 10
    Blade - GEM Stainless (4)
    Brush - Bluebeards Doubloon
Lather - Palmolive Shave Stick (mashed into mug)
Post - Witch Hazel & Arko Natural Cream

5th shave with this blade. I did the first pass WTG and the second slightly XTG... Wasn't as close as usual and I don't look as clean shaven, but my face isn't feeling as sore. I'll see how I go!

Starting last Friday and continuing though this morning I have been swamped at work. Well we finally got the situation under control and hopefully work life can return to normal. Last night I shaved with the setup above and had a relaxing shave before bed. No issues and no irritation and just missed catching the baby. I am really really loving Stirlings preshave and postshave products.

Since I didn't get to post my shave on Friday, here it is:
