  1. No - the stainlees steel ones - to me are just perfect on the first shave - I read the carbon Black feather blades - are better stroped and the carbon blades get really bad reviews - guess the stroping makes them managable - the Razor was made for stroping and i never do - haha. but it is a fun unique shave and those feather stainless blades are a sure thing for 2 shaves :)
  2. Nice shave with my Otto Busch :happy036:

  3. That is some amazing looking lather, Jamie!
  4. That set up is the culmination of some crafty Enablers. After trying COBigelow cream I got the soap. Jared @PickledNorthern convinced me I needed to try the AS lotion. Several members of the 30 Day Crew have been using the preshave soap so I gave it a try. I like the looks of the Futur DE, the clone was right priced, reviews were good, and it's a nice razor. The brush was gently loved by Randy @BaylorGator and gifted last year during his Shavey Awards.
A hearty Thank You to all involved!
  5. Thank you very much for those kind words. The thing is, I really enjoy the newspaper gig. I`m just worried that posting them too often will become boring to the members. My admiration for TSD members just keeps growing, God love each and all of you., Bill
  6. On the contrary, I for one enjoy them as much as the pictures of your dogs!
  7. Pre: Cold water face wash

A few firsts today: first cold water shave of 2018, first use of a Wee Scot and first use of a DeHaven No.3, sold to me for a very fair price by @jmudrick, thank you sir, you're a gentleman.
The Wee Scot has quite a bit of prickle and scritch, hopefully it'll soften with use.
The DeHaven on the other hand is a winner from the word go, very smooth operator which gave me a DFS in two passes.
    Happy Shaving one and all.
  8. Thanks. There is an antique shop here, in this little town. I keep my eyes peeled for new dogs ( only a couple bucks apiece). I try to enjoy all my small endeavors, and life to the fullest, Bill

  9. Today's shave
Hot water wash with a washcloth
    Brothers bristles/ ace black badger
    Bombed Soap Commander Respect
    Berkeley Custom Shaver (4)
    Rapira (2)
    Pinaud Lime SEC
today I actually stropped my Beau Brummel #35, YOU KNOW, the 5/8 full hollow spike, with the hammered tang and WAY cool cracked ice scales. But alas, my only working hand hurt just from stropping. (I thought about skipping shave completely).
Enter stage right, the handicap sympathetic team.
    Soap Commander huge tub
    Brothers bristles long handle brush
    And center court,
    The Berkeley Custom Shaver
All elements large an easy to hold.
I ended with a super close bbs (minus a point for a weeper on my right neck). I matched bombed respect with lime sec. I'll prolly balm the neck, before taking my boy to ball practice.
I hope y'all did as well, or find a working option like I did. (Sorry Beau) 20180418_160857_resized.jpg

  15. Tonight's shave was with a French Rattler. I had a very smooth and noisy 2 pass shave, that left me with a DFS. Zero issues.

Brush- B400 By Tom. Whipped Dog Boar knot. 3 hairs lost.
    Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy scented

  19. Y'know, of all the SOTD's that include a Fine A.S., I think Snake Bite has the lead by about 98%. Maybe that's an exaggeration, but SB seems to be the favorite by far.
