Today's shave was with a St.Louis/Germany made razor. I had a smooth 2 pass shave, with minor touch-ups, that left me BDBS. No issues. For a smallish razor, this one is a very fine shaver, light nimble, and sharp.

    Razor- Norvell-Shapleigh, "SNAP No35".
Brush- B400 By Tom( @twhite ). Whipped Dog Boar knot. 4 hairs lost.
    Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy
    Aftershave- Florida Water P4190143.JPG

Hot wash, Cremo Bourbon & Oak Body Wash
    2 hot towels
Cremo Lathering Sandalwood Shave Cream (as pre-shave)
    Truefitt & Hill Sandalwood
    Razorock Plissoft
    Gillette Slim (4) w/Gillette Silver Blue (3)
    3 passes, touch up
Cold rinse, witch hazel, Nivea Men Sensitive Post-Shave Balm, Stetson Cooling Moisture AS

A little sensitivity and redness, but overall, a nice shave. The T&H produced copious amounts of lather. It was a little airy, though; I might have used a bit too much water. And I smell GOOD!

The Star was sitting on the shelf saying, "Use me, use me". So I did and got a terrific shave. My face is very happy. Now go enjoy your day folks.
  6. Jamie - terrific composition with all the hues of blue! Never seen some of that Nivea aftershave. You always have interesting software!

  8. Gotta take it back. When I got to the car, I could see in the mirror terrible redness on both sides of my neck, and both jawlines. I was getting acceptable shaves until about a week ago. Now I'm back to where I was 2 years ago. I can't figure it out. :( :angry019: :angry021::angry032::sad029::signs131:

Just a magnificent 2 pass shave. One thing is certain, there are NO dull blades with the DOC SS razor. Excellent blade feel, light touch and the whiskers go away. True, not everyone’s cup of tea but this razor delivers a shave like very few others can. Heck of a razor for sure. Have a great evening and shaves Gents..... ;)

  15. Arko Adjustable April!!

    April 19

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (6)
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Pre-Shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

Well I've gone through all of my adjustables this month so I just randomly picked one to continue on with. The Slim was the chosen razor so I set it wide open and chose the Perma-Sharp blade, one of my favorites from St. Petersburg. Gillette razor, Russian Gillette blade. The Jayaruh #54 for a fantastic lather and off we go.

The Perma-Sharp is a very sharp blade, living up to its name, and also a very smooth blade. Paired in the Slim it was a smooth shave and the alum stayed quiet after three full passes. The shave itself was excellent in every way. Smooth, no blood, and the baby showed up. I probably didn't need three full passes but was just enjoying the Zen of the moment so kept going. Had enough lather left over for another three passes.

So far this month I've used only adjustable razors and 17 out of 19 shaves featured Arko. The two that didn't I used D.R. Harris Marlbourough stick to try it out. With 11 days left I'll work back through a couple more adjustables and stick with Arko to the end.

MAYhem is coming up fast - which means my use of "alternative soaps" is around the corner. I also have a few less known creams to try out. And, of course, I'll be breaking out some of my less reliable gear to give it a go. Should be a fun month! Until then - let the Arko continue to rule!

  18. Thanks Paul. Sherlock was one of the first soaps I bought and I really enjoy the scent. The first was Cryogen because I thought I would like something real cold, but quickly discovered as my one and only soap, it is tough to use every day as a daily driver and learn wet shaving as well. Shortly after I placed and order for Sherlock and Ghost Town Barber!

Had no great expectations for the AoS samples and found them Meh at best. They work, but lack scent. The travel brush performed well. It's about the smallest handle I've ever used yet works like a full sized unit. The knot is 22mm X 42mm and delivers well with a cream lather.
