  1. Crystals are a very good blade, like all the Israeli blades. When I tried them all about a year ago I honestly couldn't tell much if any difference between any of them. It's why I suspect they all may be the same blade from Personna in different packaging. Just a theory.

  4. Max Headroom wants me to clarify the official soap/cream position. While Max has gone into the tank on Stirling shave soaps because he likes the flavors, he believes it is the animal fat that makes it superior to a product lacking the same. While I may have a difficult time with Max over this I personally think the Ivory scented Derby stick works as well as his Stirling soaps with all their glorious stanks. TOBS smells nice, gives great shaves, but seems to lack a residual sickness after the blade has moved over that is found from animal fat soap.

Barbasol surprised me. It was all I ever used with a cart and I tossed it, with them, when I found whatever we call this fascination with hair removal.
Having found advice here that helped me on my journey, I was intrigued by the acceptance I was finding here for goo. So, I had to try it for myself.

Because I learned to like moving my shaving soaps 'over to the sloshy side', I tried doing the same with Barbasol. I liked it and found a greater residual slickness. If you hit the videos, you will find that people will make a razor pass lathered up an sometimes multiple repeats of almost the same stroke then wonder why they feel like they need to 'try another' something. I drew my opinions by feeling right behind where I had passed my blade using the different lathers. Maybe it is the aloe. Not sure why, but not bad.

I think that if you catch me in a real rush, you just might find I'm grabbing the EJ DE 89, dropping in a new 'one and done' Derby, squirting a shot of Barbasol in my bowl, and adding just the right amount of water to make it bloom. Two quick passes WTG, Splash on Brut and run.

It could possibly be said that you need to 'bloom the Barbasol'.

  16. Wow that brush does look great Mark. I am so happy it arrived safely. The big question. The tips already felt soft dry so I am curious how the brush felt face lathering.
  17. I recommend for Doc Headroom the Made In Anerica episode about Barbaso(narrated by Ratzenberger, the "Cheers" postman. John is is first name, I believe.)
