  4. John, I would tell you nice set up, but I too have used Dr. Bronner's shaving gel, and I had the same experience as you. Sounds like you did a better job with it than I did.

  8. Thank you, Andrew! I am working on this Bay Rum at the moment. It is a great soap, and I will be getting a tub at some point.

  10. Oddly enough, every time I use Arko it reminds me of the OLD department store my grandma worked in downtown back in the late 70's. We'd meet her in the cafeteria in the basement and have to walk by the cleaning storage rooms. It smells just like the storage room and musty piles of clothes.

  13. I get Ivory Bath Soap smell. Lemons. But unlike @BaylorGator, I don't have strong opinions about soap scent profile, only mild preference. Performance is my chief concern.

  14. I have to agree there . After a good splash of after shave you couldn't guess which soap i used .

  15. It's not a bad correlation and I don't dislike it. It's just oddly specific where that scent memory takes me. It's a heck of a performer and I still have enough to keep me going for a long time.

  16. Thank you, Clint! The knot takes a little getting used to, since it is pretty dense with a short loft. Once I get it to splayed, it works very well. The lather does tend to work it's way towards the handle, so I have to use more paint strokes while using it. It definitely chews some soap.

  17. So... Yesterday my neck was a little sore, and I happened to open my cupboard door to find my Merkur 34c hadn't been getting much love. I thought that a less aggressive razor would maybe help to give my face a rest... A 3 pass shave (WTG, XTG, XTG) resulted in a DFS... Which was in fact the best shave I have had since I started wet shaving.

That was until today... I whipped out the Merkur 34c again... 3 pass shave (WTG, XTG, ATG) - DFS+ best shave I've ever had... No irritation, minor feedback from the alum (I never shave ATG). This little razor loaded with an Astra SP is unreal. Not actually sure why I didn't like it before! I guess the more aggressive razors forced me to improve my technique?

  18. My CH2 is starting to open up a little with use, makes it a little easier to splay while lathering.
  19. Oh the power of the Aqua Velva Overcoat!
    :smiley respect:

  20. I have to use paint strokes to get the brush to release the lather.
