Shave #36 on the Cape, Wholly Kaw MfM sample from Maggrads was the soap, brush was a Tulip 2 with D. R. Harris Pink AS. Cheers, Steve
Today's shave was with a Rat Razor, that shaves like a dream. I could only take out so much pitting, and left it, "As Is". I had one of the smoothest 2 pass shave ever, that left me BDBS. Excellent razor. I would love to have a new version of it. Razor- "Griffon Cutlery Works". #35. The Barrow $ Comstock Co. New London Conn. Brush- JR#262 Ebony/Birdseye Maple. Silvertip Badger Knot. Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy scented Aftershave- Shulton Old Spice. Shulton Old Spice, Toilet Water. 3/4 oz. Decanter. Uber Strong Stuff.
I switched it up today, and used a wedge, it was a nice change. It’s only marked “ finest Sheffield”. It gave a really good shave. It’s a nicely made razor, but it’s been honed to death, making it a challenge to get shave ready. I used a Ever-Ready K40 brush, with its original badger knot, and Arko soap.
Razor: Robinson, Marples & Co “The Celebrated King William Razor” Brush: Vie-Long Horsehair Soap & A/S: Fine L’Orange Noir Enjoy your shave! Tom
I used my Kiebitz straight razor this morning and had an excellent two pass shave. It was my first time using Maggards green apple shave soap. It’s an easy soap to lather and is slick enough for an SR shave. The fragrance is, well, like freshly picked green apples.
C.V. Heljestrand Le Duc razor. This beauty has never failed to give an excellent, nearly effortless shave. Worth every krona I paid for it.
Keith I wish that I could like that last one twice sir! Royal Mayfair is a treat. Shave #37 on the Cape, soap was AYLM Issaco lathered with a Tulip 2. First time out for this soap and it did not impress me that much. Lathered easily with stable lather, but not as slick as I'd like, but I have to say that the shave was pretty darned good. But it felt like I was about to nick myself. The scent is just apple kid's cereal, the post shave was a little better than average but not by much. AS was Harris Pink. More images when they won't be of the same non-descript black-scaled Japanese razor. Cheers, Steve
First straight shave in about 2 weeks. Had a DE relapse with my replacement Aristocrat. But Friday night deserves more time and attention, and a wonderful post shave feel. Enjoy your weekend folks.
Picked this little guy up on the way home from work, in an antique shop, for $12. I got home gave it a quick cleaning, and honed it. It’s marked “The Pippin”. Does anybody know who and where this could have been made? It’s so tiny, I think it’s a mustache razor. All I can say it WOW, this thing shaves great! I’m really starting to like these smaller blades.
