  1. Congrats on the great shave and the new razor!
  2. Fantastic photo, Jim!
    Thank you!!
  3. Good on you for that kind of friendship. It's rare, and it's needed.

  4. +1 I'd have to sell off most of my vintage collection to afford one, but the Rex looks good with the added bonus of being SS. How does it compare during use?

  5. Alright, Clint (and the rest of you posting these beautiful chunks o' steel)....knock it off! You do realize that I'm going to the Maggard's Meet in June, and that Timeless will be there, right? So will Above The Tie. And, ya know, I don't NEED to be buying one of them. But, just in case of the extremely remote somewhat good possibility (see what just happened there?) that I would even consider such a ridiculous thing, does the scalloped cap provide any function? Or is it merely just to make it look sexy?

But, please guys...start posting pictures of "junkers" for awhile. At least until after June 3. :D

Great photo, by the way! :)
  6. Woo hoo! There's our guy - so it's officially Friday!! :bounce015:

  10. The scalloped cap is just for looks alone. I will admit it does looking freaking great and the cap does make it a touch easier to photograph. :D

  11. So I changed it up for my last day because I got a new toy and couldn't wait any longer.
I took the opportunity to use what I have learned the past month.
    Razor - Razorock Game Changer
    Blade - Astra Superior Platinum
Brush - 24 mm Fendrihan black and white synthetic
Pre-shave oil - Henri et Victoria - Duc De Santal
Shave soap - Vire-Capot shaving beer soap
    Osma Alum Block
After Shave - Prohibition Style Accoutrements - Bourbon Barrel

My prior shaves have all been with a Merkur Progress and this is definitely a step up for me. I did three passes and think I achieved a BBS finish. The Game Changer is a winner in my book.
  12. Very cool filter effect.

  13. Wonderful filter effect. That pairing of the razor and brush is really top notch.

  19. On setting #3 I would liken it to my 1956 gillette red tip only just a tick more aggressive. I can't imagine shaving with it on setting #6 - it would rip my face off Haha. It's much smoother that my Red Tip or my Aristocrat. I also have a OneBlade V2 and the Ambassador is more efficient but the OneBlade is very mild and also efficient too. I think that I might have to turn the Ambassador down to 1.5 or lower to be as mild as the One Blade. I also have the Above The Tie SE1 but I haven't shaved with it yet but when I doo I'll chime back in.

The fit/finish of the Ambassador is excellent and I really like the handle/knurling. The razor is well balanced and has a lot of heft but not overly so. I can envision selling some of my other razors but not the Ambassador. I will more than likely keep my two vintage Gillettes.

I've had many discussions with the owner of Razor Emporium, Matt. It's just my opinion but I believe he has remedied all of the recent engineering and quality issues. I was convinced of this and decided to pull the trigger on a new Ambassador. I'm not dissapointed that I did.
    Kind Regards,
    Bill
  20. Yes, it's a good looking and very functional piece. I might even classify it a a functional work of art. It will be my daily driver. Uhh, along with my other daily drivers.....some days it's hard to choose! Haha
