  1. Great picture, Dan!
  2. Terrific picture, Jason!
  3. Thank you, Jared. London BarberShop is similar to some other Barbershop scents. A nice mix of scents with some bergamot, a little patchouli, and some mossyness. My wife really likes the scent. I have the soap as well, which just isn't my favorite, so I will be PIFing it some point. I will be keeping the AS, though, as I definitely like it.

  14. I don't find it to be powdery at all, to be honest. Maggards lists the scents as bergamot, basil leaf, oak moss, and white patchouli. To me, the bergamot and patchouli are the most dominant. I can pick up the oak moss a bit, but it is more of a background scent. I don't get any basil, but I suppose it is there. But there should not have anything that would be a powder type of scent.
  15. When it comes to a Maggards ;product, I'm torn between the London Baber Shop and the Tobacco&Leather.
  16. For science....

Strictly for science, and the good of the 30 DC, I purchased another Feather SS, in order to see if my technique had progressed beyond the disastrous results I had last time. Also, it is a little easier to compare head geometry when you have both a DX and an SS side by side. I will post some angle measurements when I figure out a decent way to display them, but I can definitely see from the naked eye that the minimum shaving angle of the SS is quite a bit steeper than the DX, when using a flat surface to observe. Regardless, I guess a year and a half of straight/shavette shaving has pushed my technique level past the point of needing to worry about it. A DFS was had, and no blood was spilled. I will say though, that the alum block was HOT on my neck. Going to need to take a little more care. Another difference from the last time around, is that I was using a pain stick the last time, and even now, I have a harder time with them than folders. I have been in search of focus topics for a while now, and here are a couple great ones.

It was like Christmas when I got home this week, since my replacement Captain’s Bowl was also waiting for me. I broke it last year, and spent the time since, trying out other styles, always disappointed. So I picked up a large sized blemish/second. There is a noticeable light spot in the glaze on one side, but it almost looks like it could have been done on purpose. So I saved ten bucks, and have a customized Captain’s bowl.

I Coloniali is a good soap, but it has kind of a narrow water window in order to get that perfect shiny Goop, but not break it. I pegged it today, and ended up with a great lather.

Hope you all have a great Saturday.
  17. Thank you Mark.

  18. Great report and photo John. I would definitely prefer the mail Vitos to the Pacific cream I left in Tempe.

  20. Thanks, Jim.

Thanks, Jared. I told Jayaruh to surprise me with the wood and he certainly did. :). The Omega Pro knot is a great boar knot too.

It certainly beats Dr. Bronner's Magic Organic Shaving Gel too...
