Funny enough that you picked that sign, Jared. Small world. The Fort Steele Campground is about 10 minutes drive from here.
That’s cool. Does that sign actually read like that, or is it a photoshop? I’ve wondered that for years.
Is it not a Gillette Flare Tip clone? Subtle difference. I prefer Herring over Sardines. The Kippers are smoked herring, and herring in cream sauce is quite the treat. Having a difficult time finding my favorite - Herring steaks in Louisiana Hot Sauce. Had to settle for the herring steaks in soybean oil with hot green chilies.
Arko Adjustable April!! April 29 Razor - Qshave (Futur clone) (6) Blade - (2) Soap - Arko Brush - Stirling Pro-Style Synthetic Post - Alum Next to last shave for April and it was a good one. The big Stirling brush helped reduce the Arko ring a bit and I had plenty of lather and then some. The Qshave wide open with Sharp Star is just a noisy and effective combination. Still smooth and still a near-BBS after two passes. Once again I skipped the touch up opportunity. I may be an idiot, but I'm no fool! One more night with this and we'll be ready for some MAYhem!! I'll get the thread for May ready to go in the next 24 hours. You'll know it's here just as soon as I do! Hope you had a great weekend and a better tomorrow!
Kippered snacks. Herring filets in a can. Nothing better, although I do like sardines as well. Can't eat them for lunch, though, when you work in close quarters in sales.
Not a product normally found in my neck of the woods. I wasn’t even aware such treasures existed. But thanks to the creative genius of Albert Gore Jr., I will have some in my lunch box this week.
JR #282 is the one he made out of Zebrawood, isn’t it? It looks fantastic! And I bought a Maggards 24mm two - band badger knot when they first started stocking them. It's one of the nicest badger knots I have ever had, especially considering the extremely reasonable price. You should get years of pleasure out of that combo. It's the little luxuries that can make such a difference to the day, isn't it?
I like the herring steaks in hot sauce too, though I am way too southern to see cream sauce on fish as primary option. Didn't actually try kippers until I was like 35.
APRIL Arko Adjustable Proraso Preshave soap Arko - pressed into a tub Omega Pro 98 boar brush Suribachi bowl, cool water E-4 Gillette #195 on nine Feather Hi-Stainless blade Alum, Generic Blue AS lotion Took a try at improving an Arko lather. The mentholated PS soap sure felt good & might have added a bit of slick. Third use of the Japanese blade and it's doing well. Three passes in my own personal pattern. WTG; N-S above jaw line & S-N below. ATG; opposite of first pass. ATG; ear to nose, with G Slides below the jaw line. I tossed in a couple extra swipes on those pesky spots and detailing on the chin. Results; As close to a BBS as I hope for. No errors & the alum was relatively quiet. It's not that I'm used to loud alum reports. A Fat Boy maxed out with a very sharp blade is effective. Technique trumps tools. Good Shaves Y'all!
No idea, Sorry. It isn’t there anymore, but it is entirely possible that humour would make it onto a public sign around here.
It's supposed to be a flare tip copy, but the blade exposure is significantly different. If the flare tip had a blade angle and exposure like the Pacific, it would get 90% of my shaves. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
I've been exposed to Yankee foods. I'm not even sure the herring is cooked, and the thin sliced onions are crunchy. My first memory of eating kippers was on a 24 foot boat in an East coast Florida inlet around 1972. Six to eight foot waves where the fresh and salt water met. Dad and his cousin were below scuba/spear fishing. I was top side eating Kippers & crackers. Have I mentioned I don't suffer from motion sickness? Did you find someone who ships? I checked Bumble Bee website. No way to purchase directly.
I can get different options from Walmart or Amazon. Need to keep looking though. Not sure I want a case lot of something I haven’t tried.
I'll check the store shelves. Usually these sell for a buck a tin. I'll get you a sampler in the mail. Better to order a case when you've tried several.
Easy shopping. I'll check The Bucket next. I wonder if Jared @PickledNorthern would be happy with the mild tourist level sampler, or if I might add something more local. There are options.
Double post catch up, Sunday and Monday Touched up this PRC Damascus on a Shapton Glass 16k then some pasted strops, made for a nice edge. TIred of trying to kill soaps so opened up a new tub of Castle Forbes kicking off the warm weather shaving season. Monday it was back to the grind of trying to finish some soaps. Both the AdP and AoS tallow are on the be finished list. I combined them and made a nice lather.
