Tue 1st May Vulfix 404 Vitos Super Red Gem OCMM Schick Proline Type B [2 ] Pitralon Original A/S Lotion My second outing with this AC blade in lieu of the standard Gem. It fits without modification and shaves very well. If anything it calms the OCMM down a lot , though there is still lots of blade feel and care is needed during the Shave. Well worth a go you will not be disappointed.
Tabac Tuesday's Shave Proraso Pre Shave Tabac Jayaruh #274 Boar Pal Injecto-Matic Schick Proline B20 CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Granddad's AS I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Tabac Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #274 boar brush. I did two passes with the Pal Injecto-Matic with a Schick Proline B20 blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Granddad's AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Pre: Warm water face wash Brush: Omega 11047 Tasso & Setola Soap: TOBS Sandalwood Razor: Cobra Blade: Kai Pink Post: Warm then Cold water rinse, TOBS Sandalwood ASL First time with a Kai Pink, a generous member on another forum sent me a couple to try. In the Cobra it gave a very good shave, however, it might be a different story in the General. The Mixed Midget is still somehow making the lather disappear, I'm thinking of renaming it the mixed magician. Happy Shaving one and all.
Tuesday morning May Day shave - Mayday! I'm stuck in a rut! Supply Co V.2 SE injector on plate #2 / Personna ( 17) JR #276 white ash and boar brush Little Horn Quaich shave bowl Vitos Eucalyptus shaving cream Alum and Osage Rub My first MAYhem shave looked much like my last two weeks of April shaves. I am sticking with the program to use the Vitos Eucalyptus shaving cream tub exclusively until the tub is empty and to use my injector non-stop for as long as the blade lasts. Mind you, the program might not take much longer. I pushed the cream from around the edges back into the middle of the tub, and it has definitely diminished. I would guess maybe two more weeks tops. As for the blade, instead of my normal two passes to a good DFS or two and a half to a BBS after an extra XTG pass under my jawline, today I ended up doing two and a half and a half passes to a so-so DFS. The blade felt a little rough and just did not mow whiskers as cleanly as usual. Even with four lathered passes in that area - and the alum feeling a bit warm there - I still feel rough stubble patches under my jawline. the shave isn't bad but it's not up to my expected standard with this rig. I played a bit in the Excalibur Club on B+B, where the guys try to push blades to their physical limits. The experienced ones say that after a blade has done its usual first "usable life", it shaves a bit rough for half a dozen shaves or so, then smooths out to buttery smoothness for anywhere from 20 to another 100 shaves. That's with DE blades. I don’t know if the same holds true for the thicker and stiffer SE and injector blades. More to the point, I don’t know if I am willing to put up with the several miles of potholed gravel before the next stretch of good pavement. I suppose maybe, since this is MAYhem (for the 30DC thread), I should push on with this blade for another few shaves "For Science"... Therefore I am tentatively declaring this Personna injector blade dead at 17 shaves but will see how long I can keep the zombie active.
Have not heard of the Excalibur Club, as I'm not on B&B too often, but I'm experiencing similar. With good technique and blade care, I'm on week three of daily shaves with a Gem SS blade. I palm-strop it after use (flame on!!) and thoroughly dry for the next day. I've seen very good results from this pattern and had an EXCELLENT shave with a Gem MMOC and said blade yesterday. YMMV...

Wed 2nd May Omega 11126 boar Blue`s soap Ever Ready " Jewel" Gem S/S Coated [ 1 ] Tabac A/S Lotion There is something very satisfying about getting a really good Shave from a Vintage SE , compared with the Modern AC/SE. Whilst the latter provide great shaves I find that they are quite forgiving of poor technique, whilst Vintage SE Shaves require concentration throughout the Shave. I find that I can always use a fresh blade in this ER Razor, and I really enjoyed the challenge of getting an ultra close all round finish from this Classic Razor. I am pleased to say that I attained an" up there Finish " with no mishaps or post shave problems. In fact my face feels really nice and refreshed possibly because of the generous amounts of lather I used during the Shave.
